As I approached them, my mother took my hand, looking me up and down with tears in her eyes. Sweetheart, you lost weight.”
My father turned his head away, wiping off his tears.
I noticed that my father’s hair had gone weight, while my mother had new wrinkles in the corners of her eyes. My heart skipped a beat.
After a moment’s silence, I lowered my head and said softly, “I’m sorry, Mom, Dad. I shouldn’t have married Jonas, and I definitely shouldn’t have cut contact with you.”
My mother hugged me tight, weeping. “We don’t blame you, sweetheart. We’re here to bring you home.”
I saw tears pooling in my father’s eyes, and my own tears flowed freely.
My parents were rich and powerful. They raised me with love and care, but I broke their hearts.
Now, they forgave me and accepted me home, showing me I still had a loving family. They had always been my sanctuary.
As for me, there were two reasons I let Jonas and Celine defame me online.
One was so I could go home. I missed my parents, but my ego would not let me give in first. The worse I got doxxed, the more my parents could not bear to see me suffer, and the faster they would find me.
I needed their help to get my revenge.
Jonas and Celine were at the height of showbiz right now. Their companies would protect them. There was no way I could fight those capitalists on my own.
However, my parents could.
The second was to make a huge deal of things so they could never recover from the eventual backlash.
I believed that the best way to destroy someone was to put them on a pedestal and fill them with blind optimism, so they could not see their downfall coming!
The higher they flew now, the harder they would fall later.
Just as I could help them with their PR now, I could just as easily destroy them later.
I loved this feeling of imminent victory.
Not long after I returned home, my family threw a grand banquet and invited the biggest names in every industry.
However, I was not interested in socializing, so I asked my best friend Andrea to join me outside for a breather.
To my surprise, we bumped into another old friend.
Andrea’s eyes lit up. “Look, isn’t that your childhood friend, Shane Johnson? I heard he doesn’t usually join these functions. Did he come for you, Jeanine?”

I had not been in contact with my family for a while, but I had heard that Shane had taken over his family’s business after returning from his studles abroad. He controlled the country’s biggest media company and personally fostered many celebrities. Everyone vied for his attention.
Andrea and I stood a distance away, while Shane was surrounded by a crowd showering him with praise.
“What brings you here today, Master Johnson?”
“You’re always so busy we barely get to see you!”
Shane smiled. “I’m here to discuss something with Mr. Smith, so I thought I’d join the party while I’m at it.”
I stared at him in a daze before chuckling. He looked just as troublesome as before.
“It’s been a while, Jeanine.” He greeted me as though had never left.
“Long time no see,” I responded in kind, smiling.
This opportunity was handed to me on a silver platter, so who was I to refuse it?

An insider posted another shocking scoop on social media.
“The latest twist in the Jonas/Celine saga! The poor woman was Jonas‘ legally wedded wife, but he abandoned her as soon as he made it big! Jonas and Celine are the true villains in this story. And now the homewrecker has even gotten pregnant!”
The post came with two pictures and a video. One of the pictures was my wedding photo with Jonas, and the other was Celine’s pregnancy report.
The video showed the time when Jonas ordered his manager to slap me and make me kneel.
With a little push from behind the scenes, the post immediately topped the trending charts.
Even their companies could not do anything to stem the tide, partially because it had garnered too much attention, and partially because Shane was assisting me as well.
Come to think of it, he made a pretty decent spear to attack my enemies.
