Chapter 31
Nadia was confused by his gaze. Her widened eyes showed a trace of nervousness because of Matthew’s deep gaze.
“What…” Just as Nadia was about to ask Matthew what was wrong. Matthew spoke first. “Can I come in and have a seat?”
Nadia was rendered speechless.
“No,” she said.
But
But Matthew didn’t give up just for being refused.
He didn’t barge in, nor did he leave. He just looked at Nadia calmly, as if he wouldn’t leave until she let him in.
“L…” Nadia paused, and her tone softened subconsciously. “I’m closing the door. You can leave.”
As she spoke, Nadia made to close the door, but before she could do so, Matthew suddenly raised a hand to block the door. With a little force, he pushed the door open and walked into Nadia’s apartment.
Nadia was exasperated. “You can’t be so shameless…”
She and Matthew had never been angry with each other, and she had never even lost her temper with him. They had always gotten along well with each other, and this long–term peace made it impossible for her to be too harsh on him. She could only shout at him in a dry voice, but her soft voice sounded nowhere intimidating. It even had a hint of coquettishness in it.
It was rare for Matthew to see her so angry, so he couldn’t help glancing at her.
When he glanced at Nadia, Nadia’s heart softened immediately.
“I’m going to sleep… Even her explanation sounded soft and unconvincing. I’m

Without speaking, Nadia hesitated for a moment before letting go.
Matthew entered the apartment and sat down on the sofa. When he sat down, he glanced at the coffee table, only to find that the check–up report in the basket was already gone.
He couldn’t help but look up at Nadia.
Nadia could vaguely guess what Matthew wanted to ask about
“There’s really nothing wrong with my body. Nadia turned around and took out the blood test report from the drawer of the wardrobe. I haven’t been eating very well recently. That’s why I have been suffering from hypoglycemia. I’ve gotten myself all checked up today.”
As she spoke, she handed the blood test report to Matthew.
Matthew took it and looked at it. There was indeed nothing wrong with Nadia’s blood test.
But he remembered that there had to be at least two check–up reports from different times this afternoon, one on the coffee table, and the other probably in the bag that Nadia refused to show him.
Matthew did not forget the first sentence the man said when he knocked on Nadia’s door, “Kathleen just called me and said that you went to the hospital in the afternoon…
Halfway through his sentence, Nadia interrupted him anxiously.
The date of this check–up report was today. Obviously, it was from when Nadia went to the hospital today in the afternoon. But what about the report on the coffee table?
Matthew turned to look at the drawer behind Nadia.
For some reason, Nadia was a little flustered. She couldn’t help but look at Matthew with a hint of vigilance in her eyes.

Matthew paused for a moment as he looked her in the eye, but he didn’t ask any more questions. Instead, he changed the
topic. “What was your name?”
Caught off guard, Nadia was a little confused by his sudden question.
“Nadia Crosby,” she said. “Don’t you know all along?”
Matthew asked, “Have you always gone by the name of Nadia Crosby and have never changed your name?”
Nadia thought for a moment. She had indeed been called Nadia ever since she could remember, so she nodded and said, “Yes, that’s right.

Matthew replied, “Nothing. I just suddenly thought of someone.
Nadia smiled and asked, “Is it Nathalia?”
Matthew looked at her in silence.
