Chapter 1
Under the guidance of the secretary, Nadia Crosby found Matthew Brock’s office.
After two years of marriage, this was the first time she had come to his company.
“Mr. Brock is still in a meeting. Please take a seat,” the secretary thoughtfully explained and poured Nadia a cup of hot coffee.
“Thank you” Nadia took it politely and sat down on the sofa in the reception room. She looked around the clean room. The simple grayish white decoration was low–key and luxurious, which was a favorite of Matthew.

The secretary secretly sized Nadia up from the side. Nadia seemed very young. Her slightly curly long hair hung over her shoulders. Her bangs were parted in the middle, naturally falling to her ears. She seemed to be a quiet, well–behaved, pure, and beautiful girl.
The secretary was still in shock that Nadia was Matthew’s wife.
In other words, the fact that Matthew, who had always been cold and kept a distance from everyone, especially women, was married shocked her even
more
The secretary couldn’t imagine that Matthew would be tender to a woman.
The noise outside interrupted her thoughts.
“Maybe the meeting ended and Mr. Brock came back,” the secretary quickly said. “Please wait for a while. I’ll go check it.”
Nadia subconsciously looked at the door the secretary was walking toward.
A tall figure appeared at the door. His head was slightly tilted, and he was discussing something with the person next to him. His angular side face was against the light, looking cold and serious.
As for the person next to him…..
When Nadia saw the girl’s bright smile, she was stunned and stood up unconsciously.
Matthew raised his head and saw Nadia standing in front of the sofa. He paused for a moment and then frowned.
“Why are you here?” Matthew asked.
The girl who was discussing the plan with him raised her head when she heard this. Seeing Nadia, she was obviously surprised.
Nadia smiled politely at her, looked at Matthew, and handed him the file bag in her hand. “Your”
She wanted to say “your mom“, but she changed it to “Selena asked me to bring this to you“.
Selena Brock, Matthew’s mother, couldn’t put up with Nadia’s “idleness” at home, and Nadia didn’t want stay at home with Selena either, so she went to the company to deliver the document to Matthew along the way.
Matthew took it and asked, “Have you had lunch yet?”
Nadia replied, “No”
Matthew closed the document in his hand and looked back at the people who were still following him. “The meeting will continue in the afternoon, Go

Matthew took Nadia to the canteen downstairs for lunch.
When they were waiting for the d
dishes, Matthew was
as still busy typing on the keyboard with his long fingers, his face as cool and focused as usual.
Nadia rested her chin on one hand and looked at Matthew quietly.
He was very good–looking, with well–defined features and cold eyes. His straight nose set off his dignified and aloof manner.
Matthew was always calm and indifferent, except when they were having sex.
Nadia had loved him secretly for eight years
years, but now, she didn’t want him anymore.
There was a newly drafted divorce agreement in the bag on her lap.
Nadia pressed her palm against the divorce agreement, hesitating
Strictly speaking, Matthew didn’t do anything wrong. He just didn’t love her.
They didn’t get married because of love. It didn’t seem to be wrong for him not to love her.
“What are you looking at?” A deep voice interrupted Nadia’s thought.
She turned to look at Matthew.

He didn’t even raise his head, still concentrating on the laptop screen.
Nadia had always enjoyed watching Matthew work.
“Eh?” Without hearing her reply, Matthew finally looked up at her face.
Nadia smiled at him. “Nothing”
Then she asked casually, “When did Lucille start working in your company?”
Lucille Barron was the girl who stood beside Matthew just now.
The three of them used to be classmates for a year.
Back then, Nadia was a transfer student, while Matthew and Lucille were classmates in senior high school for three years. Both being best–looking in the class and straight A students, they were invited to participate in all kinds of events. At that time, it was rumored that they had a thing for each other, but
some reason, they were not together in the end, Nadia, who was inconspicuous, married Matthew
In fact, Nadia used to be an excellent student. She was admitted to good schools. It was just that when she went to high school, Matthew and Lucille were so outstanding that they outshone her. Besides, she was a transfer student. As soon as she began to bud, they graduated and went their separate
“At the beginning of the year.” Matthew turned his attention back to the laptop. “I don’t remember clearly. She passed the interview with the personnel department”
Nadia nodded and did not as further.
The food was quickly served, and then they fell into a long silence
They always had little to talk about in the past two years of marriage. But since they both liked to be quiet, they didn’t see it as a big problem. Yet,

Nadia was a little envious.
This was an intimacy that she and Matthew would never have in their lifetime.
Matthew only cared about his work and efficiency.
His life was like a wound–up clock, precise and cold.
Matthew had a strict and rigorous schedule.
Such a man should not get married at all.
Neither should Nadia.
“What’s the matter?” Sensing that she was lost in thought, Matthew suddenly looked up at her.
Nadia pursed her lips slightly. When she met his eyes, she smiled and nodded. “Well…”
A new email distracted Matthew.
Nadia smiled and said, “Just go ahead with your work. We’ll talk about it later.”
“Alright.”
It was an hour later when Matthew finished his work.
What are you up to?” Matthew suddenly asked as he put away the laptop.
Nadia was stunned for a moment before realizing that Matthew was asking her.
I want to go to a bookstore. I’ll go back later.”
Matthew nodded. “I’ll ask Harrison to take you there. Don’t stay there for too long.”
Harrison Logan was Matthew’s assistant, and Nadia had met him a few times.
She nodded. “Okay”
The lunch ended in a dull way.
Nadia didn’t go home from the bookstore until nearly five p.m.
Selena was playing with a cat when i dia came back. Seeing her walking in, she petted the cat while asking. “Look at you. You are so dependent on others to take care of you You don’t have a job, yet you spend money like water. You are not considerate and haven’t borne any child. You come from a sambla famity, yet you act like spoiled Matthew’s marrying you doesn’t do us any good, does it?”

adia could understand why Selena didn’t like her. After all, she and Matthew were not well–matched in social status. He was completely out of her
ague.
hey got together just because of coincidences.
adia didn’t know that Matthew was so powerful and rich when they got married. She had thought that he was just an ordinary person working hard to sake a living like her.
she had known about the huge gap between them, she would not have agreed to marry Matthew. After all, it was just a shotgun marriage. He had no zelings for her.
When they first got married, Nadia still had expectations about the future, so she could tolerate Selena for being hostile to her behind Matthew’s back.
are about Selena’s attitude.
Now that Nadia had other plans for the future, she didn’t care
n the end, seeing that Nadia was indifferent and ignored all her provocation, Selena slammed the door angrily and left the house.
Nadia was not in the mood to cook, so she ordered a takeout.
Matthew had to work overtime, so he sent her a message in advance
His company was still expanding, and he was busy–It was normal for him to work overtime.
Nadia was already used to his busy schedule.
At about 11 p.m., Matthew finally came back, Nadia was still in the study.
Matthew was used to her business, so he went to take a shower first. When he came out, Nadia, who had finished washing up, was leaning against the bedhead reading a book. Seeing Matthew walking over, she put down the book and turned off the bedside lamp on her side.
Matthew got onto the bed and turned off the light. As soon as he lay down, he turned over, lay on top of her, and kissed her. His refreshing scent surrounded her.
After turning off the lights, Matthew was both p
gentle and aggressive.
He was not as cold as in the daytime. It was hard for Nadia to imagine that a man who was usually almost emotionless and desireless would be so passionate and crazy in bed.
Their sex life was nearly perfect.
After a long while, when they stopped panting and groaning in the darkness, Nadia still lay quietly in Matthew’s arms.
Her sweaty body was a little sticky. Nadia did not push him away. Instead, she hugged him gently and buried her face in his sweaty chest.
“Matthew,” she said softly, still panting.
“Hm?” he responded in a

Matthew looked down at her. His sharp brown eyes were calm, but there were hidden emotions surging in them,
“Why?” His voice was as even as ever.

“We married solely because of the child, but unfortunately, we were fated to lose it.” She looked into his eyes composedly. “I seem to be more used to being single. I feel that there is no difference between living with you and without you. But without you, I will have less expectation and trouble. I think you are the same.
She did not have to face his mother and relatives after the divorce. Similarly, he did not have to face her greedy family.
Matthew didn’t say anything and just looked at her motionlessly. His brown eyes became even gloomier. Just when Nadia thought that he wouldn’t speak, he nodded calmly.
“OK.”
He didn’t explain or ask further. Just like when she agreed to marry him, he only said OK. This was Matthew, whom she was familiar with
Nadha smiled at him. Her nose twitched, and her eyes were sore as if something was about to burst out. She asked for it, but when their marriage came to an end as quickly as she had expected, she felt sad.
She forced back the tears, gently buried her head in his chest, and hugged him tightly for the last time..
Matthew didn’t respond. He just let her hold him in silence.
Nadia softly let go of him.
“I’m going to take a shower.”
She turned around quietly. Just as she was about to get out of bed, her arm was suddenly grabbed. She was pulled back to the soft bed. Matthew kissed her fiercely, but he stopped when he saw the panic in her eyes.
Matthew had a furious look in his eyes, but he slowly calmed down.
He turned over and lay down beside her.
“Go to sleep,” he said, closing his eyes.
When Nadia woke up the next day, Matthew was already gone. The house was still the same as before as if the incident last night was just a dream, but Nadia knew that the situation was no longer the same.
She packed up her things.
She didn’t have many things here, so she quickly finished.
Before leaving, she looked around the house she had lived in for two years for the last time. She put the keys and the divorce agreement on the table and then sent a message to Matthew: I’ve signed the divorce agreement on the table, and I’ve entrusted Mr. Sutton with the divorce. When is it convenient for you? Let’s go through the formalities. I’m leaving. Take care.]
Matthew was in a meeting when he received the message. When he saw it, he was stunned and looked a little absent–minded.
Everyone present had never seen him in such a trance, especially Lucille. She had known Matthew for so many years, but she had never seen him like
this before
“Mr. Brock?” Lucille reminded him softly
Matthew glanced at her, calmly put down his phone, and continued speaking. Just when everyone thought he was fine, he suddenly said, “The meeting is over.” He grabbed the phone on the table and rushed out of the conference room. The crowd looked at each other.
“What.what happened to Mr. Brock?”
