Chapter 7
Matthew was in a meeting with his phone next to him. When he heard the notification, he turned his head and saw the text message from Selena, His eyes paused for a moment.
Harrison
was good at observing people’s expressions. He stopped and stole a glance at Matthew’s phone. When Harrison saw Nadia’s name on it, Matthew put his phone upside down on the table and looked up at him.
Harrison shivered. He thought that Matthew would scold him, but Matthew just glanced at him coldly and said, “Go on ”
Harrison nodded hesitantly and continued explaining the design. However, as soon as he finished speaking, he saw Matthew frowning
“Who approved such a lousy plan?” Matthew asked. His voice was not loud, but it instantly made the atmosphere in the conference room tense.
Harrison was stumped. He glanced at Matthew hesitantly, wanting to say something but stopped on second thought.
Unable to get an answer, Matthew turned to look at the others.
The others immediately lowered their heads and pretended to be deep in thought for fear of meeting Matthew’s eyes.
“You don’t know?” Matthew asked.
No one dared to make a sound.
One by one, they secretly looked at Harrison for help.
Harrison was Matthew’s special assistant and the vice president of the company. He had always been the one to take the blame in the conference room,
especially recently.
Even the dullest person could sense that something was wrong with Matthew. It wasn’t that he had become irritable or picky. He looked inexplicably sullen. He became unusually strict with work, and his gaze was cold.
Most importantly, he seemed to have amnesia. They didn’t know if he was distracted.
Under reveryone’s gaze, Harrison felt a lot of pressure. Usually, he could handle Matthew’s anger, but this time, could he do it?
Harrison lowered his head, trying to keep a low profile, but Matthew turned to look at him.
“Since everyone is looking at you, Harrison, answer me on their behalf,” Matthew said as he glanced back at the design drawing on the big screen behind him. “Who passed such a crappy plan?”
Harrison was stunned.
He felt everyone was screwing him.
Matthew looked at him, “Mr. Logan?”
Harrison forced himself to look at Matthew. “… I don’t know.”
In the end, he didn’t have the courage to say it.
Matthew glanced at Harrison and then looked at the others.
The others all looked down, pretending to be pondering.

“Jell, say it.” Matthew randomly picked a person.
Jett Webster glanced at Harrison in fear and then threw the question back to Harrison. “Mr. Mr. Logan is in charge of this project.”
Matthew furned to Harrison again. “Harrison.”

Matthew said, “Just say
Harrison gritted his teeth. “It was you who approved it, Mr. Brock.”
He added in a low voice, “Last night.”
The meeting room fell silent in an instant
Harrison stole a glance at Matthew. It was rare to see a trace of surprise on Matthew’s handsome face.
Matthew looked back at the design drawing behind him,
Harrison carefully observed Matthew’s face. “Mr. Brock, you seem to be… a little out of sorts these days. Are you all right?”
“Yes.” Matthew calmed down. “I’m sorry. It’s my negligence. Redo the design. Break it up.”
After that, Matthew picked up the phone on the table and walked out.
As soon as the conference room door closed, the tension disappeared.
The others gave Harrison a thumbs–up.
“You’re so brave,”
Harrison pointed at them one by one. “I’ve always protected you. You only know how to throw the bomb at me at the critical moment. You’re all ungrateful.”
“After all, you’re the only one who can withstand Mr. Brock’s anger, aren’t you?”
“Thank you so much, Mr. Logan. We’ll treat you to a meal another day”
Everyone responded with a smile. They relaxed but felt confused. “Did something happen to Mr. Brack? He’s very u

recently.”
The gossipy eyes once again turned on Harrison.
“Of course not.” Harrison easily changed the topic. “Mr. Brock is so enthusiastic about work that his body can’t stand it. It’s normal for him to be absent- minded occasionally.”

As he spoke, he sorted out the meeting material. He joked with everyone for a while before returning to his office.

Harrison’s office was outside Matthew’s, and there were several other assistants in the office. Originally, they were discussing work casually. When Matthew passed by, they immediately straightened their backs and didn’t dare to look around. But when they saw Harrison coming in, they relaxed and patted their chests secretly to breathe a sigh of relief.
Harrison smiled and knocked on their heads with the documents. “Look at yourselves!”
Harrison knew everyone was afraid of Matthew, and so was he
It wasn’t that Matthew had a bad temper. On the contrary, he almost never lost his temper. Although he was a workaholic, he would not ask the staff to be the same as him. He was considerate to his employees and gave them better treatment than others. He would never flare up at will, let alone deduct money from salaries. He could be said to be a very good boss, but probably because of his strong aura and his strict, cold, and serious character, everyone was reserved in front of him,
“This is probably the aura of a powerful person,” Harrison thought. He looked through the office area at Matthew in the room.
Matthew had already sat down in his office chair, and the phone in his hand was casually thrown to the corner of the desk. It was obvious that he was in a bad mood.
Harrison, who had accidentally caught a glimpse of Nadia’s name on Matthew’s phone, guessed it had something to do with her.
He had met Nadia a few times and had a good impression of her. Nadia was good–looking, pure, well–behaved, quiet, and simple. She spoke softly and slowly, and her voice was pleasant to the ear. She was neither impatient nor pampered, and she treated others politely. She was unlike Selena, who always put on airs.
Matthew had entrusted his divorce to the lawyer contacted by Harrison, so Harrison knew that Nadia and Matthew had divorced.
But he still didn’t know why they go
Bot divorced.
Harrison only knew that there was something wrong with Matthew recently. After he told Matthew that Nadia was going to sell the house, Matthew became stranger and stranger. He didn’t even remember the design plan he had passed.
Aside from being superior and subordinate, Harrison and Matthew had a good relationship in private. However, Harrison didn’t know much about Matthew’s married life, and Matthew didn’t reveal a word about it.
Although Harrison was not familiar with Nadia, he remembered that her relationship with Matthew had always been stable. Although they were not as clingy as other couples, they didn’t resent each other to the point of getting a divorce,
mo to the company that day, Matthew had asked him to drive Nadia to the bookstore. The two didn’t
Harrison still remembered that when Nadia had come
seem to have quarreled.
However, the next day, the couple, who were perfectly matched, suddenly informed him to help deal with their divorce.
After a moment of silence, Matthew, who was in the office, looked at the phone he had thrown into the corner. He paused for a while, picked it up, and clicked on the Line messages sent by Selena, including that photo. At a glance, he saw Nadia looking at the counter in a trance and Darrell looking at Nadia in a trance.
Matthew froze and looked at the two people in the photo.
In the dark light, the camera captured every s

As a man, Matthew knew very well what this man’s gaze on Nadia meant. It was not amazement or temporary interest, but a strong love buried deep in his heart.
Matthew didn’t know who this man was, and he had never seen this man’s photo from Nadia,

Matthew’s finger paused on the phone. He suddenly remembered that he had never checked Nadia’s phone.
Harrison couldn’t see clearly what was on Matthew’s phone. He only saw that Matthew was staring at the phone with his brown eyes getting colder an colder. Matthew’s handsome face was almost expressionless. He looked extremely calm, which reminded Harrison of the sea before the storm.
Harrison thought that Matthew was going to do something big, and then he saw Matthew exit the photo page and send a voice message: [I arranged th person for her. Don’t worry about it.]
Matthew turned off his phone, threw it aside again, and called out to Harrison.
“Yes.” Harrison hurried forward and put on a professional look. “What’s the matter, Mr. Brock?”
Matthew looked up at him and asked, “What time is it? Has Mr. Owen arrived?”
Harrison quickly nodded. “He’ll be in the meeting room in ten minutes.”
“Okay.” Matthew nodded, picked up the documents on the desk, and got up. “Come with me.”
Harrison nodded, “Yes,”
He glanced at the phone on the desk and reminded Matthew tactfully, “Mr. Brock, if you have something urgent, I can help you…”
“No need,” Matthew interrupted him and walked out.
Harrison looked at Matthew’s phone hesitantly and had to follow him.
