Chapter 91
Hana moved in her sleep and cuddled closer to me. I smiled and gently tightened my hold on her. I had been awake for five minutes and spending them enjoying the feeling of waking up with her in my arms again. It was like I was breathing easier when she was close, I had komum I would miss her when she wasn’t around. But I had underestimates just home much I would do so. As I watched her, she senched her nose and looked adorable. I could see she was waking up and placed a gentle kiss on her lips. She smiled, still with her eyes closed.

“I did. How about you? I know my bed doesn’t have one of those fancy mattresses yours has,” she asked.
“I slept fine. I’m not that fragile,” I told her and she giggled. We got ready and had breakfast. “Are y excited?” I asked at we were heading down to the garage to go to the shelter.

. What if I don’t find a cat 1 like? Or even worse, what if the cats don’t like me?” she asked. I chuckled and kissed her hair.
“The cats will love you. Everyone does. And if you don’t find one you click with, we will come back next week. Or we can look into getting one from a good breeder,” I told her. She shook her head.
*I think I want one from the shelter. I would like to offer a home to someone who needs it,” she said. It made me fall in love with her all over again. and kind nature was amazing. When we arrived at the shelter, a young woman greeted us.

“Miss Bishop? Yes, we got your application the other day. It’s nice to meet you, I’m Jane. I had a look at the paperwork you submitted and I think we can find a companion for you. Unfortunately, we have a lot of cats at the moment. It’s high season for kittens and people are abandoning their pregnant cats and kittens. They realise it is a lot more work than just having an adorable pet,” Jane told us.
“How awful” Hana said.
“I agree. So many people don’t realise that a kitten is a lot like any baby. They require a lot of time and attention if you want to make sure they are a decent adult cat. In the first year they will get themselves into so much trouble before you find a peaceful way to live together. Many just give up and either turn them in for re- homing, or just let them loose,” Lane continued as she showed us inside the shelter. The large room had been divided up in smaller areas using half walls and netting. In each area there were one or two cats, or a cat with a litter. “We have Cotton over here. She had her litter about ten weeks ago. The kittens are ready to move out any day now. They are all booked except for the black one. People have a thing against black cats, they are always hard to find homes for,” Jane explained and showed us an area with a fluffy white cat.Kittens were running everywhere. Three of them had black and red patches all over their body, while one was black as night
“How adorable,” Hana cooed as she watched the kittens chasing each other. “Won’t they feel lonely if they don’t have a at friend when they move?” she asked.
“Generally we do like to place kittens in households that already have a cat, or adopt them with a companion, But since you work from home and don’t spend long periods of time away, I don’t think it would be an issue,” Jane said. We stayed and watched the kittens for a while before moving on to some other cats lane wanted us to meet. I watched Hana. She clearly was in cat heaven and adored every cat she was introduced to. But she didn’t look to be sold on one in particular, “I have one left on my list. This one is more of a wild card. He is most likely never going to be adopted, but I always show him anyway.” Jane told us as we came to the final area. I looked inside and it took me a moment to find the cat. On a shelf was a grown, yellow cat. He looked at us with suspicion and was clearly not comfortable.
“What’s his name?” Hana asked
“His official name is Cuddles, we try to name the cats that don’t have a name, something nice. But he isn’t living up to his name. Cuddles is around two to three years old. He was found abandoned, but he had a chip so we tracked his owners down. They didn’t want him so they signed him over to us. He is a recluse and doesn’t like when humans come too close, he will growl and swipe at you. We can’t place him in a home with children because of it. He doesn’t go well with other cats either.” Jane recited the facts in an informative voice. She had none of the softness she had when showing the other cats and she didn’t add any cute story to the bare facts. It was clear she was expecting un to turn our back on Cuddles without a thought. But Hana looked at the cat and I saw the connection I hadn’t seen between her and the other cats. Of course she would get attached to the odd ball that no one wanted.
“Are you sure?” I asked her. I didn’t need to elaborate, she looked at me and smiled.
“I am,” she told me.

“What?” she asked in surprise.
“He needs a good home, I can offer him that. And I don’t need to feel bad about not giving him a friend. If he just wants to be left alone, I can give him that,” Hana
told her.

“We are, I have a carrier in the car.” I said.
“We just need to know what he eats and if there is something we need to think about,” Hans said.
“How about we go into the office and I will give you all the information and we can talk things through?” Jane offered.
“Sounds good,” Hana told her. We walked back through the room and saw families and individuals being guided through the areas as we had been.
“You don’t think anyone else will want Cuddles, do you?” Hans whispered to me, she looked worried.
“Don’t worry, sweetness, Cuddles will go home with us, I’ll make sure of it,” I promised her. I didn’t want to say that no one else would look twice at the scared and unsociable cat. After going through everything, signing the adoption papers and getting pamphlets with the basic information and recommendations for food, Insurance and vet clinic, Cuddles was ready to he brought home. I got the transporter from the car and, without hesitation, Jane grabbed a pair of the biggest leather gloves I had seen.
“What are those for?” Hana asked.
“He won’t like this. It’s best that I do it and that you stay here. That way, he won’t associate you with this,” she said and held out her hand for the crate. I handed it
to her and she walked off.
“I don’t like this,” Hana told me. I pulled her into my arms and held her as we heard a warning growl loud enough to reach us in the office.
“It is just this one time. Once we get him home we can work on him accepting to be transported, I think,” I told her as the growling transitioned into what could only be described as a demonic shriek. Hana buried her head in my neck and I tried to soothe her. Jane came back with the transport that was moving around as the cat inside tried to get out. She looked a little dishevelled, but I couldn’t see any bleeding
“Thank you,” Hana said and took the transport cage from her.
“No, thank you. And if you have questions, please give us a call. We are always happy to help the transition into a new home to be as smooth as possible,” she told us. I placed an arm around Hana and guided her to the car.
“We will quickly swing by the pet store and buy some food for him. You can stay in the car while I go inside,” I told Hana.
“Thank you. I think he has settled down a bit,” Hana said and looked back to where the transport cage had been strapped into the back seat. Cuddles had quieted down and it wasn’t rocking.
“I think you are right,” I agreed. I parked at the pet store and quickly ran in to buy the recommended food and then we drove straight to Hana’s place.
“I think we will put the crate in my office. We can put his litter box, food and water in there as well and just leave the door open a crack. Then he can get out at his own pace and if he wants to stay in there, it’s fine. If he wants to explore he can,” she told me. She had refused to let me carry the transporter and was lugging it into her office.
“Great idea.” I told her. As the put the cat in the office, I made sure to bring the other things in
“This is your new home, Cuddles. Here you can do whatever you want as long as you don’t pee in the bed or on the couch. If you’ll be a good boy I will leave you to your own devices. Do we have a deal?” Hana said to the cat in a soft voice as she opened the crate. There was a low waming coming from within. “It’s okay, boy. I won’t force you. You stay in there and me and Hunter will make lunch.” She stood up and we walked out of the room, leaving the door slightly open. “Thank you Hunter. I think this will be amazing having him here, she told me. She looked happy and it made me happy.
“I think so too. If anyone could charm that grumpy cat, it’s you,” I said as we started making lunch together. We didn’t see Cuddles the rest of the day. In the late afternoon as we were watching a movie, we heard him moving around. At least he was out of the cage. Hana checked on him before we went to bed and said she couldn’t see him, but he had eaten and used the litter box and hadn’t left any surprises for her. So she was happy. It took us a long time to fall asleep. We both needed to make up for being without sex for a couple of days. It was interesting how quickly the body got used to regular sex. I spent hours worshipping Hana’s body and she responded like she always did. When we finally were satiated, sleep came quickly.
I woke up and didn’t know what had woken me. My body told me I hadn’t been asleep for long. I felt Hana curled up beside me and I opened my eyes to try and figure out why I was awake. Yellow eyes staring into mine was the only thing my brain registered. I screamed and sat up straight. Hana woke up beside me and I saw a furry being making a beeline for the
door.

“What is it?” Hana asked. She was confused and worried. My heart was beating like a Duracell bunny at speed.
“Sorry, I didn’t mean to scare you,” I said, trying to calm myself down.

“You were screaming in the middle of the night, of course you scared me. Did you have a nightmare?” she asked, pratly rubbing my arm now that she knew we weren’t in danger
“No. I’m fine. I just woke up to Cuddles staring me in my face I didn’t see that coming and I think I might have scared him worse than I reared you, sorry.” I told her. She giggled and I looked at her.
“At least I now know that there are things that make even you scream like a girl.” she giggled as she lay down again,
“Not fair. And don’t go telling lason about this.” I told her as I joined her
“I don’t know. This one is kind of funny,” she said.
“I will pay you.” 1 offered.
“I don’t think you have enough money to make me keep silent.”
“Who
was talking about money? I pay my debts to you in orgasms,” I told her as I pulled the cover off her and moved down her body.
