Chapter 8
I was at the Moonblade Pack for three days now, and everything there was unfamiliar. To avoid causing trouble for Logan, Ava and I stayed at home and hadn’t go out.
“Take a walk, it will be good for Ava too,” Logan said as he brought me some of Ava’s necessities.
“I’ll take you to a nice restaurant.”
The restaurant was located in the center of the Moonblade Pack, and the air was filled with the smell of freshly baked bread.
Ava sat in a baby seat, waving her little hands, seemingly entertained by the new surroundings.
We had just ordered the food when Logan’s phone rang. He apologized to me, saying it’s urgent and walked outside to talk.
Not long after he left, Ava suddenly started crying loudly, her cries piercing.
I gently tried to calm her down while rummaging through my bag for a pacifier, but her crying seemed to upset the couple at the next table.
“Can you control your child? It’s so noisy, how are we supposed to eat?“The woman said impatiently.
“She’s only one year old, it’s normal for a child to cry,” I defended Ava.
“It’s normal, but shouldn’t you consider others? If the child keeps crying, maybe you shouldn’t take her out and disturb others,” the man sneered.
Those words were like a fuse, igniting my anger.
“If you can’t stand it, you can move to another table!” I suddenly stood up, my voice raised.
People around started noticing the argument, their gazes turning toward us, and Ava’s wails grew louder. The couple’s faces also darkened.
“What’s going on here?” Logan suddenly appearaed and asked, looking at the couple. The couple clearly recognized him, and their demeanores changed immediately.
“Alpha–Logan… we just…“the man stammered.
“It’s our fault, we shouldn’t have complained, sorry,” the woman quickly added.
Logan didn’t say anything, but simply stared at them with an authoritative gaze. The couple quickly stood up and left in a hurry, not even finishing their meal.
The restaurant returned to normal, but my emotions were no longer under control.

I lowered my head, picked up Ava, and allowed allent tears to fall.
“I’m sorry, I have postpartum depression… I just can’t control myself,” I sobbed.
“It’s okay!”
1 took the calming medication from my bag, my hands trembling as I twisted the cap open.
“Relax, Nina,” he said, gently pressing my wrist
“Don’t rush to take the medication. Maybe these emotions aren’t something medicine can solve. You need to get checked out, find out the root cause of the problem.”
I stared at him, still crying.
“I’ll take you to our pack’s hospital. They have more professional doctors there. They can help you,” Logan comforted me.
I nodded, slowly placing the bottle back in my bag.
Logan gently patted my shoulder. “Everything will be alright. Okay?!”

The doctor handed me a report, his expression heavy, like dark clouds pressing down.
“Do you ever feel like your memory and sense of smell have declined? Or that you have no appetite?”
“Yes.” I nodded.
“Your postpartum depression is worsening. We have found the cause–it’s the medication you are taking.”
“Medication? Isn’t it… supposed to calm me down?”
“It does have a calming effect, but these types of medications are highly addictive and have more negative effects on the body. Especially for breastfeeding women, these substances are passed on to the baby through breast milk.
“What does that mean? Will Ava… be affected?” I panicked, my voice shaky. I felt as if I had been struck hard.
“Yes.” The doctor nodded gently, his tone full of helplessness. “If taken for a long time, the baby may experience colic or other health problems.”
“Who gave you this medication?”
“It was my therapist, Ivy. She told me it was a medication specially developed for werewolves, with no side effects.”
“She is completely unprofessional. This behavior is nothing short of criminal! She didn’t
