Chapter 40: The Wolves of My Parents
**Thelma Zane’s POV**
As the car rolled to a stop, Aldrich remained quiet, his brows furrowed as if deep in thought. Finally, after a moment’s hesitation, he turned to me and asked, “Do you want to see my wolf? If you’re curious about werewolves.”
His question surprised me, and my interest was immediately piqued. “Of course, I’m interested,” I replied with enthusiasm. “I’m curious about everything related to my boyfriend.”
He squinted at me, his gray eyes locking onto mine with a serious expression. “Wait a second, miss,” he said, his tone both amused and firm. Think about what you just said. *I’m your boyfriend. My wolf isn’t your boyfriend.”
I couldn’t suppress the laughter that bubbled up inside me. “What’s the difference? You and your wolf are one and the same.”
He shook his head adamantly, his voice turning playfully possessive. “No, it’s completely different. *You belong to me, not my wolf.”
The indignation in his tone only made me laugh harder. I couldn’t help but marvel at how someone could be so endearing even when pretending to be angry. But this time, his irritation seemed genuine. His usually easygoing demeanor was replaced by a tense silence as he turned his gaze toward the road ahead, lips pressed into a thin line.
Sensing that I may have pushed him too far, I reached for his arm and coaxed him gently. ” Alright, don’t be upset. You’re my only boyfriend. No one else, not even your wolf.”
At that, he turned back to me, his features softening. “I could never be truly angry with you,” he said, his voice low and warm. “You’re the person I love the most.” He leaned closer and added, almost as if reassuring himself, “I love you.”
I felt my heart swell at his words. Wrapping my arms around his neck, I kissed him softly. “I- love you too,” I whispered.
I had never been so certain about my feelings for someone. Being with Aldrich brought out emotions I hadn’t known I was capable of. He wasn’t just handsome, with his chiseled features and strong frame. There was something about his presence–his unwavering support, his kindness, and even his occasional stubbornness that made me feel safe and cherished.
As I pulled back slightly, I teased him. “You really looked furious a moment ago. I thought I had genuinely upset you.”
“Weren’t you the one who wanted to make me angry?” he retorted, touching the tip of my nose with a grin. “But even then, I could never stay mad at you. I promise you!
that.”
I smiled at his sincerity, but my curiosity quickly resurfaced. “So, when are you going to show me your wolf? I can’t wait to meet him.”
Aldrich hesitated, his playful demeanor giving way to caution. “I think it would be better to wait until your wolf awakens. Then you’ll truly understand what it means to be one of us.”
Though his answer didn’t satisfy my curiosity, I nodded in agreement. With a reluctant sigh, I waved goodbye as he drove away. We wouldn’t be seeing each other the following day, but the thought of meeting my parents‘ wolves kept my spirits high.
The next morning, my parents kept their promise and took me to the edge of the forest. Anticipation coursed through me as I followed them into the dense trees. My blood felt as though it was humming, each step heightening my excitement. Today, I would witness a werewolf transformation for the first time–a glimpse into a world–that would soon become my own.
I watched in awe as their human forms began to shift. Their limbs elongated, their muscles grew more pronounced, and their bodies became cloaked in pure white fur. Their eyes, once familiar and kind, transformed into sharp, piercing vertical pupils. Their jaws extended, revealing rows of gleaming teeth that looked capable of crushing steel. Finally, their hands became claws, each finger tipped with a lethal point.
The sight was both mesmerizing and terrifying.
“Hello, Daughter,” my father’s wolf said suddenly, his deep voice startling me.
I blinked in surprise. “You can talk?”
My mother’s wolf chuckled, the sound resonating with authority. “Normal wolves can’t speak, but we’re not ordinary wolves.” Her voice was deeper than her human tone, carrying a regal weight that commanded attention.
“Will I be like you someday?” I asked, unable to hide the wonder in my voice. The thought of transforming into something so majestic filled me with pride and anticipation.
“Of course, my dear,” my father’s wolf replied. “You carry our blood, and you will grow to be even greater than us.”
My mother’s wolf nodded, her expression softening. “We’ve waited for this moment since the day you were born,” she said, her voice tinged with emotion. “For a time, I feared I wouldn’t live to see it.”
My father’s wolf gently nudged her, his large frame shielding her from the weight of her memories. “Let’s not dwell on the past, Irene. What matters is that we’re here now.”
Turning back to me, he continued with a proud smile, “By the way,
the way, little one, my name is Pymon, and your mother’s wolf is called Irene. It’s an honor to meet you.
Despite his attempt to appear approachable, his towering presence and fierce features made

would awaken soon so I could
“I can’t wait,” I admitted aloud. “I want my wolf to awaken now. I want to be like you, to embrace this part of myself fully.”
The possibilities of the future flooded my mind I imagined the day my wolf would emerge, the day my parents would reveal my true identity to the kingdom. I pictured myself standing proudly beside Aldrich, finally able to share our relationship with the world. And perhaps, one day, I’d gather the courage to return to the family who had raised me–the family I still cared for deeply–and show them the person I had become.
“Come along, darling,” my mother said as she and my father returned to their human forms.” Let’s take a walk before heading back.”
I followed them through the forest, marveling at how ordinary they appeared now. Clad in their everyday clothes, they looked no different from anyone else. Yet, I couldn’t forget the power and majesty they had displayed moments earlier.
As we strolled among the trees, I found myself wishing for time to move faster. The day 1 awakened to my true self couldn’t come soon enough. I was ready to embrace my destiny, to take the next
