Chapter 15
Ambrose’s eyes were full of affection.
Roxanne almost spit out the water she had just taken a sip of. She covered her mouth.
“Ambrose, did you get hit on the head?” She couldn’t believe he had just said he liked her.
They had always been good friends, but for him to suddenly say something like this… She didn’t know how to face him now.
“I know that you think my marriage to Sebastian was a mistake and that I’ve suffered, but you don’t need to comfort me like this,” she said, intentionally misinterpreting Ambrose’s words.
She didn’t want things to be awkward between them because of romantic feelings. She could only be friends with Ambrose. She had just divorced Sebastian; she couldn’t jump into another relationship so quickly. She had no plans to marry again.
Men weren’t to be trusted. She didn’t believe in love, and marriage was even more unreliable.
“I have to go now. I have something else to do,” she said quickly, not giving Ambrose a chance to speak, and walked out of the restaurant.
As she walked into the law firm, she saw Jenson standing near the elevator. Her steps slowed. When she walked up to him, the elevator hadn’t yet arrived.
“Found a place?” he asked.
Roxanne nodded. “Yeah, near the law firm.”
The elevator doors slid open. Jenson stepped inside, and Roxanne followed him. Once in the elevator, she stood in the corner, keeping some distance between them.
He was tall, his straight posture blocking most of the light. His white shirt was tucked into his trousers, with a black belt accentuating his figure. His well–defined physique and long legs gave off an undeniable masculine charm.
Her phone suddenly rang, and she quickly lowered her head to take out her phone. It was Nolan calling, so she answered the call.
After listening to the situation on the other end, she hung up the phone. “I need to go to Vongale Heights. The trial is coming up soon, and I need to gather more details.”
“Mm,” Jenson responded.
The elevator arrived at the office floor, and Jenson stepped out. She stayed inside, pressing the down button. When the elevator reached the underground parking garage, she drove off to
meet Nolan.

“Which case did you take to end up like this?” Rachel Jamison, Sebastian’s mother, had come to the hospital to care for him. She was both distressed and speechless when she saw his
injuries.
He was supposed to be a respectable person, but now he looked this pathetic.
“By the way, where’s Roxanne? She should be the one taking care of you. She should have plenty of free time since she doesn’t work. You’ve been married for four years now. When are you two going to have kids?”
Sebastian already had a headache, and with Rachel nagging as soon as she walked in, he was getting fed up.
“I don’t need care.”
“How could you not need care when you’re hurt like this?” Rachel was getting more and more irritated. When she saw Sebastian alone in the hospital, she couldn’t understand why Roxanne, who was a stay–at–home wife, wasn’t here taking care of him.
The more she thought about it, the angrier she got. She pulled out her phone and called
Roxanne.
