Chapter 16
Sebastian quickly stopped Rachel. “I told her to go back and make me dinner. She’ll be here soon. You should leave now, I don’t need anyone here.”
He probably hadn’t even realized why he had lied at that moment. Perhaps he just wanted to brush off Rachel and make her leave quickly, or maybe it was something else.
“That’s more like it. Although she’s been taking good care of you, you’re the one supporting her. She’s spending your money, so it’s only natural for her to take care of you. Don’t spoil her
too much.
“And what’s her deal? Does she not want kids? Is slic incapable of having children? If that’s the case, you need to take her to the hospital for a check–up. If she really can’t have kids, you’ll have to figure out a way to have one outside. Our family can’t let its bloodline end-”
“Mom, enough! I’m the patient here, and I need to rest. As for kids, that’s something I don’t want,” Sebastian snapped.
Roxanne had mentioned wanting a child several times, but at the time, he had dismissed the idea, thinking they were still young and didn’t need to become parents just yet. Now, it was clear Rachel had been pressuring Roxanne about it.
“Hmph, you keep defending her. One day, she’ll walk all over you. I don’t understand why you like her so much. She has no background, and her parents are just workers. Sure, her education is decent, but how can that help you?
“She can cook and clean, but she can’t even give you a child. Ms. Lambert was interested in you and had someone come and pull the strings, but you turned her down. If you’d listened to me and married her back then, you’d be living in Juville’s high society now.
“The Lambert family’s incredibly wealthy, with businesses in several countries. If you had married Ms. Lambert, your dad’s business would have gotten a huge boost. While Smith Group is doing well, we can’t compare to the Lambert family.
“I only have one son, and you’re supposed to inherit the family business one day. Your wife should have a good family background–she should be someone who can navigate different powers and networks. That’s what a real good wife should be, do you understand?” Rachel’s
dissatisfaction with Roxanne was clear.
Ever since Sebastian had married Roxanne, he had distanced himself from his parents. They had even been living separately. Rachel thought it had driven a wedge between her and
Sebastian.
Sebastian’s head was spinning, but he couldn’t argue with Rachel. He just had to endure it. ” Mom, I need to rest. Could you leave?”
Rachel snorted. “Fine. You’ve got your wife to take care of you. No need for me to worry.”
with that, she walkerkout, her heels clicking against the floor.
At the door, Liam and Henry were still waiting, they had been the ones who had called Rachel after they had failed to reach Roxanne. They had to get someone to come over.
Rachel looked at them. “How did Seb end up like this? Is this some kind of revenge?”
Being quick on his feet, Liam responded, “Ah, yes, but it’s all fine now. Don’t worry, Seb knows how to handle himself.”
“Alright then. He said Roxanne would be coming to take care of him. I’ll head out now. If “Alright then. He said Roxanne would be c anything comes up, call me.”
“Of course. Don’t worry,” Liam said, smiling.
Once Rachel left, Henry turned to Liam. “Do you think Roxanne will come?”
Liam shrugged. “Who knows?”
Henry thought about it. “I think it’s unlikely.”
Liam shot him a look, secretly thinking the same thing.
“Let’s go in and check.” Liam walked up and opened the door to the hospital room.
As soon as they stepped inside, a pillow flew toward them. “Did you two call my mom?” Sebastian questioned.
Liam caught the pillow. “You can’t be without family when you’re hurt. We couldn’t get a hold of Roxanne, so-
