Chapter 52 – A Debt Unpaid
The door of the hotel room clicked shut behind Raphael as he left it across town. His face was one of discomfort and annoyance as he straightened his shirt, he groaned as he moved to the car parked outside, his privates still kind of burning.
He slid into the backseat and Marrison looked at him in the rearview mirror,
“Are you alright, sir?” Her question was courteous but tinged with laughter. Raphael leaned back in his chair pinching the bridge of his nose.
“Uh, that stupid bitch” he muttered.
Marrison stifled a laugh, biting her lip,
“So, no five million for her, eh?”
When the money was mentioned, Raphael flinched. He had fully “agreement” when he paid her 2.5 million dollars up ahead.
expected Emily to fulfill their
He was now full of regret about everything. His thoughts were racing, he scratched his beard, he thought about Emily and the money and what he should do next.
Had he just made his worst mistake ever, or was she worth the turmoil she was causing? Marrison took another look at him in the mirror, sensing his internal disturbance.
“What’s the plan now, sir?”
Raphael didn’t respond immediately, his jaw tightening as he stared out the window,
“We’ll see” he said finally, his voice low and ominous.
Stacks of papers and files covered the polished wood surface of Raphael’s dimly lit office, which was illuminated by the piercing glare of his desk lamp. The silence was broken by a soft knock,
“Come in” he called, his deep voice steady.
Marrison, his assistant, stepped in, her expression as neutral as ever,
“He’s here, sir”
Raphael waved his hand dismissively and nodded. Silently, Marrison stepped back, and the door opened again a second later. A tall man with piercing eyes who was wearing a leather jacket and shaded sunglasses came in, his boots clicking on the tiled floor, he strode into the room with a sense of danger.
Raphael got up and held out his hand. After giving it a vigorous shake, the man sat down opposite him. Raphael silently passed a picture across the table and dug into a folder on his desk. Emily Roberts was in the glossy picture that came to a halt in front of the man,

“She’s the target” Raphael said smoothly,
“I want her alive” He leaned back in his chair, steepling his fingers,
If she asks why, tell her she owes a debt of 2.5 million. Or…” His lips curled into a wicked
smile,
“She can pay it off in kind”
After looking at the picture for a while, the man nodded. He got up from his chair and held out his hand once more. Raphael took it in his hands and smiled evilly,
“Don’t disappoint me” Raphael said as the man turned to leave. The man nodded once and disappeared out the door.
The man followed Emily for days, watching her every step. Marrison had made his work nearly too simple by giving him comprehensive details about her habits and routines.
From a distance, he observed her running errands, going to social events, and getting ready for her wedding. He made a note of her favorite hangouts and the individuals she spent time with while she waited for the right opportunity to present itself. On the evening of her wedding, the chance finally presented itself.
The music and laughter from the reception spilled out into the cold night air at the lavish event hall. Standing in the darkness at the rear of the building, the man looked around. He had a straightforward plan, watch, observe, and decide on the best entrance point for when he would take her. Just as he was starting to head for the door, destiny stepped in.
Emily left the hallway, her white dress glistening in the dim light from the streetlights. She appeared to be deep in contemplation as she walked into the night air, her eyes averted. She stepped closer without warning, her gentle steps coming toward him. Realizing it was too late for her to go back now, the man readied himself,
“Who are you?” Emily asked, her voice laced with confusion and fear as the man stepped into her path.
He smirked, his hands sliding into the pockets of his jacket,
“You owe a debt, Ms. Roberts. 2.5 million. I’m here to collect”
Emily’s eyes widened in shock,
“I don’t owe anyone anything! Who sent you?”
“C’mon don’t play stupid“he said simply, his tone cold and final, “Now, are you coming quietly, or are we going to do this the hard way?”
