Chapter 33
Nadia was surprised by what Matthew said.
He never gave an uncertain answer.
“There must be a reason why, right?” Nadia was puzzled. “Who would associate a person with another person for no reason?”
Matthew looked at her. “Intuition”
Nadia was rendered speechless.
“But… It’s not like we have just known each other, is it?” Nadia said as she was still unable to understand where Matthew’s sudden intuition came from.
Matthew pursed his lips slightly. It seemed as if he didn’t want to answer this question.
The confusion in Nadia’s eyes deepened. The Matthew she knew had always been decisive. Even when it came to the problem of their divorce, he only thought about it for a few seconds before agreeing decisively. When they were talking about the problem with Nathalia, Matthew was only silent for a while before telling her the whole story. She couldn’t think of anything that could make him hesitate.
Matthew did not miss the confusion in her eyes, but he didn’t want her to investigate deeper into this problem. He didn’t want her to know that he had already associated her with Nathalia the first time he saw her.
“Maybe it’s an epiphany.” He stood up. “You haven’t answered me yet.”
As soon as he stood up, his towering presence left Nadia in awe.
Nadia had to raise her head to look at him. “I think you’re changing the topic.”
Matthew said, “You’re the one who is avoiding the topic.
Nadia choked and looked at him suspiciously. “You’re the one who did it first.”
“You are the one that suddenly came to me in the middle of the night and asked me if I am another person. It’s natural for to ask more about it.” Nadia added, “What if you really have any evidence or clue?”
Matthew frowned. “Evidence and clues?”

He looked at her thoughtfully and said, “Why do you care so much about this? When most people are asked if they are another person, they would usually just deny it directly, unless one is unsure of his or her family background and is also looking for an
answer.”
As he spoke, Matthew’s brown eyes fell on Nadia. “Are you not your parents‘ biological daughter?”
His gaze was too direct and sharp. It was as if they could see through others at a glance.
Nadia had never felt inferior in front of Matthew, but she didn’t understand why she felt a little embarrassed suddenly when he asked her this. This embarrassment originated from the fact that Layla and her sons had been asking Matthew and his family for more greedily over the years. She was not Layla’s biological daughter, but let her family continue to ask for more from Matthew and the Brock family. Such realization made Nadia embarrassed.
She chuckled. “How is that possible? If I weren’t their biological daughter, would my mother come to you for things with such peace of mind all the time?”
Matthew frowned and didn’t answer her. Nadia’s words made sense.
Nadia looked at Matthew and said in a low voice, “Matthew, I’m not Nathalia. Don’t take me as her. In fact, don’t take me as anyone. I’m just me.
“You said that Nathalia is a few years younger than you, so it’s impossible for her to be in the same year as you are. But we’re classmates.
Nadia added softly. When Matthew mentioned his intuition just now, she had asked him in confusion, “It’s not like we have

just known each other, is it?” Nadia suddenly seemed to understand something. In the final year of senior high school, every time Nadia turned absent–mindedly and happened to meet Matthew’s eyes in mid–air, he would stare at her as if he were deep in thought. Nadia also remembered the careless care and protection Matthew gave her that year. She looked up at Matthew and asked, “When we were in high school… did you think of me as Nathalia then?”
Matthew was not surprised that Nadia had guessed it. He knew all along how smart Nadia was since he first met her. She was just calm and low–key, but she had always been sensitive and observant.
“I did suspect that you were her in the beginning,” he said directly instead of avoiding her question.
Nadia smiled. It was as she had expected. He was still the Matthew she was familiar with.
She had always liked Matthew’s honesty. However, she felt a little uncomfortable suddenly. The appearance of Matthew in her life when she was 17 years old was like a ray of sunshine in her not–so–happy life. All of his care and favor that year made her fall gradually in love with him. Even though they were divorced now, she had to admit that she was very happy that year.
She thought that Matthew treated her differently that year because he had special feelings towards her, at least just like what she had for him. That was why he accidentally slept with her the night of the class reunion many years later.
Nadia realized that this wasn’t the case.
Nadia felt a lump in her throat and tears welled up in her eyes.
She choked her tears back. When she looked up at Matthew again, there was already a smile on her face. “Thank you for letting me know.
“Anyway, thank you for taking care of me in the past.” She smiled lightly and looked up at Matthew quietly. ‘I’m not Nathalia. Don’t come here again. We’re over. Don’t disturb each other.”
Matthew looked at her in silence.
