CHAPTER ELEVEN: THE HOVSTAD BROTHERS
‘Dad, did you just hit me?” Lucia asked,crystal tears glistening at the corners of her eyes.
‘Yes, and I’ll keep hitting you if you cause trouble again.” Mr Campbell barked fiercely at her. Well, Mr Campbell’s heart hurt when he looked at the imprinted fingers on her daughter’s beautiful cheek. His only pampered child was slapped by him but for the sake if the company,he hardened his heart and chided his daughter.
“What are you talking about daddy?” Lucia asked her father in confusion once more.
‘Look here Lucia, what you posted online might really land us in deep trouble. It really might even cost our company. Today I received a warning in form of a text from Mr Bellamy Hunter’s assistant. He said that if I don’t put you on a leash,our company would go bankrupt overnight. Tell me,why did you do that?‘ Mr Campbell chided softly and asked.
‘But I was just trying to stand up for my best friend.” Lucia explained, feeling wronged.
‘Lucia,have you ever thought about it? What if she was just using you to settle the feud between the two of them? Look baby, please don’t be impulsive. Think about your future first frol now on, okay?” Mr Campbell explained while pulling Lucia into his arms and comforting her.
‘Okay daddy,I’ll listen to you.” Lucia answered softly while sniffling.
SSpeaking of which, Lucia might be ignorant but not foolish. Just yesterday, when Ivy was narrating how she interacts with her twin sister, she had noticed many loopholes but she chose to ignore them since she was her best friend. Thinking about it now, she was sure there was a game being played and a person was going to receive the shorter end of the stick because of it. Apparently, she was the sacrificial lamb in this case. She vowed to avoid and Ivy and the trouble that came about after interacting with Ivy. She didn’t want to cause her father any more mishaps.
At the Hovstad Residence, Ariel arrived, greeted her parents and went upstairs to her room. Her parents didn’t complain anymore since they had become used to her cold and distant nature. Ariel went into the bathroom immediately after she put her backpack on the study table. She came out immensely refreshed. She was drying her hair using a towel when her phone rang.
Ariel: Yes,hello?
Rick: Hello boss,we saw what was posted online,do you want us to check who posted the thread?
Ariel: There’s no need.
Rick: How about taking the post down boss?
Ariel: It’s okay, let it be.
Rick: Okay boss.
Well, Rick let her be. She must’ve had a reason as to why she let things slide. Yes, Ariel had a reason. Firstly, she didn’t want to follow up on such a lousy thread since she already had an inkling of the person who was involved. As for taking down the post, she didn’t see the need for that. She wanted everyone who read the post to be scared of her. She didn’t have the time to deal with students who tried to use cheap tricks on her.
While she was busy on her phone in her room, The three brothers Cliff,Aaron and Amando entered the House. They greeted their parents and hurriedly into Cliff’s study. All of them sat down and waited for Cliff to give them a greenlight. Cliff cleared his throat and said;
‘Alright,we gathered here tonight because each one of you claimed that they had something to talk to me about. So the first person to call will go first. Amando.”
“Huh?” Amando who was busy scrolling on his phone was brought back to the present ny Cliff’s voice.
‘What did you want to talk to first brother about?” Aaron asked Amando in Cliff’s stead.
Oh that, Fuck! I’m telling you, I had a really dreary yet vivid dream about the future of the Hovstad family. It really was scary. Amando said and shuddered in fear,just thinking about it made him have goosebumps.
What did you dream about?” Cliff suddenly became curious and asked intently.
Amando vividly described the dream, from how it started by his parents‘ death in a car accident, his rape scandal and death due to depression, His third brother Aaron’s car accident and death during a competition, his second brother Craig’s corruption scandal and life imprisonment, Cliff’s betrayal by his most trusted secretary Leon, and the crumble of the Cliffstad multinational cooperation. He also narrated how Ivy snatched their shares and worked with a rival company to take down the Cliffstad corporation. How she proceeded and married into a renowned aristocratic family in Ocean City, completely forgetting about the family that raised her. The one whom they has neglected and ignored (Ariel) was the one who toiled for the remaining family members to stay afloat. It was really sad and scary.
‘Fuck bro,I also had the same dream!” Aaron explained in surprise.
