CHAPTER 21: FIRST POSITION OVERALL
“What?didn’t you hear what I just said?” Bellamy suddenly hollered through the phone.
“No boss, I’ll go handle the paperwork now.” Liam hurriedly explained and busied himself with making the necessary arrangements for the acquisition process. He was so tired and drained but he had no otherwise. Why couldn’t his boss let him rest like the other assistants do? He complained inwardly .He dared not voice such thoughts to his boss since he was sure he’d be sacked outrightly. Did that mean that the boss had really fallen for that minor from the Hovstad family? if that was the case, he would treat her better from now on lest he faces his boss‘ wrath. Of all the people,why did he have to fall for a minor? Liam didn’t understand so he just sighed in exasperation. He shouldn’t be nosy on something that doesn’t concern him.
The day of the last paper came two days later. As usual, Ariel answered the paper in the first forty minutes, handed the paper to the teacher and excused herself. The students weren’t as shocked as they were on the first day of the exam. They had gotten used to Ariel handing in her paper forty minutes after the exam started. When Ariel got out,she saw Bellamy’s car parked by the roadside. She rushed over and entered the car. Bellamy immediately handed her a chocolate bar and rubbed her head gently. Ariel glared at him but when she remembered that it was him who gave her the chocolate,she smiled at him instead and allowed him to rub her head for however much he liked. Ariel had gotten used to Bellamy. She didn’t behave as cold and detached as she was when Bellamy first saw her. When Ariel started receiving the warmth from her brothers, she began behaving just like a sixteen–year–old was supposed to behave. Bellamy was happy to see this change. That day,they had hotpot before going home. Ariel kept complaining about how spicy the food was since she always had a sweet tooth. She was still sulking when a pack of sweets was suddenly shoved into her arms. She was so happy that her eyes kept shining. Bellamy figured that she was so easy to placate as long as you gave her something sweet.When Ariel arrived at the Hovstad residence,her parents were not in the living room.Only her brother Amando was in the living room pacing back and forth anxiously. Ariel was confused,didn’t her brother go to work after he drooped her off at school?
“Brother, are you back already?” Ariel called out from behind him.
“Oh sis,it’s you.” Amando suddenly snapped out of his reverie and answered her.
“Yeah, what’s up?” she asked,confusion evident in her voice.
“Right,sis,do you remember the day you showed up at the press conference with me? the boss called and asked me to bring you on a variety show that is going to be aired in a few day’s time. Sigh,I wish I wasn’t impulsive on bringing you out to the press.” Amando said in self blame.
“Oh,so that was it?” Ariel asked
“Yeah.” Amando answered abd scratched his head in exasperation.
“Is the pay good?” Ariel inquired again.
“Huh?oh yeah it is.” he answered
“Then I’m in.” Ariel said casually.
Huh? that was it? just because the pay was good? Why didn’t he know that his sister was a little money grubber? Anyway that didn’t matter,as along as he was by her side, that’s what matters. Ariel excused herself and went upstairs to wash up.
Bellamy on the other hand, after dropping Ariel off,he didn’t head back to the company instead, he went over to sign the transfer agreement on the chocolate factory. The Shah confectionery company suddenly changed owners to A&B confectioners company. Ariel who was oblivious to the fact that she had partly become the owner of the biggest and well known confectionary company in country A,was busy playing chess with her brother Amando. She kept checkmating him and Amando sighed in defeat. Why was his sister so exceptional in everything? He felt really envious. He wished he could hide her from the world but he knew it was impossible so he could only sigh regretfully.He surrendered and lay weakly on the couch. Ariel on seeing this, just shook her head and smiled. She took her phone and took some photos of her lazy brother. Even when he was dishevelled, he couldn’t hide the charm that he exuded, he was really handsome!
The following week, the teachers began distributing the marked papers to students in Anderson high school. The math teacher for stream D suddenly entered the ass while beaming. The students wondered why he was in a good mood that day. He congratulated everyone that had improved,much emphasis was put on Ariel, who had scored all the marks on the paper.This was so unbelievable.
“What? unbelievable! does that mean she was serious when she was challenging the homeroom teacher of stream A?” a girl suddenly exclaimed and asked.
“Beats me, but why Is she so cool and good at everything? Damn,why can’t I be like her?” Another girl complained enviously from the back row.
“Hey everyone be quiet.” the class immediately became quiet, the maths teacher was satisfied by their obedience and started handing out the papers.
“After this, there are no longer going to be lessons,so utilize this time by doing corrections and revision on the questions that you failed. Who knows, they might reset it the next time. Am I clear?” The teacher once again asked.
“Yes sir.” the class answered in unison. The maths teacher was satisfied by this and left the class in a good mood.
“Wow, you are amazing Ariel.” When the teacher left,Maya focused all her attention on Ariel.
“How did you do it?” She asked Ariel enviously once again. Ariel in turn just smiled back and patted her back in comfort. She couldn’t possibly tell her that she had

already done these questions severally with her master in the countryside,right? she was sure Maya wouldn’t believe it so she chose to just smile back in response.
In the staffroom,the homeroom teacher for stream D,mr Roy kept exclaiming when marking a certain English paper. Mrs white couldn’t contain her curiosity and walked over.
That’s definitely a student from my stream. She said proudly after seeing how good the person had scored.
You wouldn’t believe who it is.” Roy said mysteriously.
“Who is it? Ivy?” Mrs White asked with anticipation abd pride in her voice.
Ariel Hovstad. Mr Roy answered calmly.
“What? that’s impossible!” Mrs White outrightly denied. her voice was so loud that it attracted the attention of all the teachers.
“Why Is it impossible Mrs White? do you mean to say no other class can perform better than yours?” the principal was displeased by her loud voice abd so he asked her angrily.
“No, that’s not what I meant. excuse me.” Mrs White excused herself and ran away amidst the snickers from her rivals. She hoped that she could find a hole and Bury herself in.
The following day, the school bulletin board was filled with results from all the classes. People would go and check the positions and marks they scored on it. Ivy was always confident that she was the unbeatable one so on that day,she dressed up beautifully abd dolled herself up since she qas sure she would be in the limelight. When she walked to the bulletin board and took a look at it,her brain felt as if she had vern electrocuted. She stood rooted on the spot. What she saw on the board baffled her. She wasn’t leading and instead,she was position three. She widened her eyes when she saw who position one was. why was it Ariel of all the people?
“Why is it you?” she asked hatefully.
Oh my,what happened to our unbeatable champion?” a sarcastic voice suddenly crept up in her ears. When she turned back and saw whom it was, she couldn’t take it anymore and passed out immediately,shocking the other part that his jaw almost fell off.
