I wait for Lucian to drink from me, prepared for it in my mind but not in reality. I definitely overestimated my own mental strength because I’m close to screaming when he lifts me up from the ground.
Within seconds, I’m pushed into a tree with lightning speed and lift my chin, terrified when I see the black spider–like veins spreading underneath Lucian’s red eyes. It’s like being faced with a bloodthirsty vampire, but this one doesn’t just want my blood.
He is hungry for my flesh as well.
“Lucian,” I squeak in a dry voice. “Control yourself”
His lips twist into a dark smile. “You’re telling me to control myself after you said it was okay to eat from you?”
“Drink from me,” I correct him in a stammering voice. “I said it was o–okay to drink from me, n–not eat from me.”
Those eyes of his narrow, and he leans closer, one hand resting above my head. “You’re no fun.”
I say nothing in response. I’m beginning to understand that Lucian has a split personality disorder. His werewolf side is flirty and fun, but the fairy is mean and sarcastic. I honestly fear his fairy side, and it doesn’t matter that we are fated mates. I’m still frightened.
“Aren’t you going to say something?” Lucian mutters before leaning down to whisper into my ear. “Or is the little Omega (00 terrified of her own mate to speak her mind?”
I freeze into my spot with my back plastered against the tree trunk, and Lucian chuckles darkly.
“Good to know my fairy side can put you into place. I was getting tired of you lecturing me. I mean, I already said sorry, and you kept going—”
I slap him hard across his handsome face at that, upset with his mocking tone and the hurtful words. Lucian stares at me in surprise, lifting his hand to cradle the stinging cheek where my palm made perfect contact.
But I’m not done with him yet.

“I have a personality disorder, and someone
Might be scared of your fairy side, Lucian and honestly, who wouldn’t be v got to tame your fairy side because it obviously knows no boundaries.”
Lucian looks down at me while rubbing his check. “And I’m assuming you’re the one who’s going to tame me?”
My face turns red and Lucian sighs heavily before his attention travels to the garden. “That was a nice hit. To my surprise, he chuckles after my words. “To think I got beaten up by an Omega. Shit. You have more of a spark than some of the Alphas I’ve faced in battle.”
I study his features for a while, everything from his red eyes to the amused smirk on his lips. “You’re really different whenever the fairy takes over.”
“I’m still the same person, though,” Lucian says. “I just know that my flirty werewolf side is better for this world than my wilder fairy side.”
While speaking, his hand travels to my cheek. He strokes the area with his knuckles before his gaze travels down to my breasts and neck. His interest lingers there, and I shiver when his fingers delicately trace a path down to my collarbone
“You have such soft skin..” He murmurs and I have to fight back another shiver when he steps closer.
Chapter 16
Gosh, will I ever get used to being this close to a predator? Lucian is so close I can feel the heat radiating off his large, muscular body, smell the musky scent of him and hear his heartbeat in my ears.
or is it mine?
I glance up, and Lucian meets my eyes with a tiny smile playing over his lips. “I won’t hurt you. You have my word.”
1 believe him. Or rather, I want to believe him. The man standing in front of me is Lucian, but at the same time, he isn’t. His fairy side is dangerous in a way that sends chills down my spine Yet I promised him my blood, and I know I can’t back down
now.
My eyes remain on his, and I whisper, “Will it hurt?”
“A bit,” Lucian confesses, his gaze dark and intense. “But only at first.”
As he says this, his eyes drop to my throat, and the red in his eyes seems to flare. Despite his earlier harshness, he now appears calm and collected, his demeanor as smooth as a predator silently stalking its prey.
Dread pools in my stomach. But more than that there’s anticipation. It’s a feeling that sends shivers down sets my heart pounding at an unnatural pace. I swallow hard, trying to quiet the fear roiling within me
my spine
and
“And if you can’t control yourself?” I question, raising my gaze to meet his once more.
He appears taken aback by my question but quickly regains composure. A wry smile crawls onto his face. “Then you will be the one to stop me, won’t you?”
His response sends a chill through me, but before I can answer, he tilts his head and pierces my neck with his razor–sharp teeth.
It hurts a lot.
A gasp escapes my lips, and my hands instinctively reach out to push him away. But Lucian doesn’t even budge. I add more! strength, pushing at his broad chest once more, but again, he doesn’t seem to realize what I’m doing. He is too big, too strong, and too darn concentrated on my blood.
Suddenly, he grabs my wrist and brings them above my head. He is no longer drinking my blood but licking the area clean with slow, tantalizing licks that make me tingle between my legs. I feel wonderful, which is alarming.
Does his saliva contain some sort of aphrodisiac? Or is it the raw intimacy of the situation? Feeling his chest against mine, his skin hot against my cooler flesh… it’s an intoxicating blend of fear and arousal.
His tongue continues to trace a damp path along my neck, taking its time before he pulls away. His lips are stained with my blood, and his eyes are alight with an unspoken desire that sends a jolt of electricity through me.
“Your blood,” Lucian murmurs, licking his lips as if reminiscing about a wonderful feast, “is nothing like I have ever tasted.”
I blush at his words, feeling a strange sort of pride for being special to him. Even though it’s scary, I can’t help but feel pleased by his compliment.
He lifts one hand from holding my wrists and gently caresses my face, looking at me as if I’m the most precious thing in the world. “Thank you for letting me drink from you,” he murmurs in a husky tone. “You taste like a dream, and I want to repay
you.
Lucian drops to his knees, and I hold my breath when he starts pulling down my pants. I’m breathing hard, incredibly into it…until I see my parents walking towards us.
At first, they are smiling, but once they realize what’s going on, they both freeze, and I snap out of it.
“Lucian,” I hiss and grab my pants, but my mate doesn’t seem to get it and continues trying to pull them down.

It frustrates me, so 1 laphis head, causing him to glare up at me with butthurt eyes. “What the hell is your problem? You’re aroused, and I’m more than willing to-
“My parents are here,” I growl at him before plastering a fake smile on my lips. “Mom, Dad….fancy seeing you here. I thought we agreed on guy’s coming tomorrow?”
Lucian’s eyes widen before he stands up and brushes invisible dust off himself. His previous lustful expression is quickly replaced with a stiff and formal demeanor.
“Mr. and Mrs. Willis,” he greets my parents, his gaze never meeting mine as he says these words.
My parents exchange a look of confusion, then look back at me with evident disapproval in their eyes. “We decided to give you a surprise visit,” my mother manages to say, her smile as faux as the one on my lips.
“Well, it’s definitely a surprise,” I laugh nervously. There’s an awkward silence before I try to break it with a feeble excuse, “Lucian was…uh…helping me find my phone. It fell somewhere.”
Lucian nods quickly, catching on. “Yes, it slipped out of her pocket. We were just searching for it.”
My father, a burly man with a stern face, raises an eyebrow but says nothing. My mother looks at me skeptically, then at Lucian with narrowed eyes.
But their suspicion doesn’t last very long because my parents are parasites. They are only here to make use of Lucian’s wealth and power. I see it in their eyes, the greed that lingers there. The way they take in his tailored suit and the expensive watch that graces his wrist. Their smiles are too wide, their laughter too forced.
Well, I hope you will find your phone,” my mother says before smiling up at Lucian and holding out her hand, “I’m Serta Willis. It’s a pleasure to meet and talk to you in person, Alpha Lucian.”
Lucian respectfully takes my mother’s hand, his gaze steady and impassive. “Likewise, Mrs. Willis.”
My father steps forward, offering his hand to Lucian with a broad grin, “And I’m James Willis. I’m looking forward to getting to know you better, Alpha.”
Lucian nods at my father, shaking his hand firmly. The pleasure is all mine, Mr. Willis.”
I watch this cordial exchange with a hollow feeling in my chest. My parents, who have never shown genuine concern or love for me, are suddenly all smiles and eager to please because of the man standing next to me.
The bitter taste of their betrayal coats my tongue, and when Lucian suggests my parents head inside the mansion ahead of us, my negative feelings grow worse.
Is Lucian seriously inviting them over for dinner?
Why would he do that?
Doesn’t he hate them?
1 look up at Lucian when my parents are gone, but Lucian is faster than me to steal the word
“You never mentioned your parents were coming over
today,” he state holds no accusation, only a hint of curiosity.
His
“I didn’t know either,” I defend myself quickly, feeling heat creep up to my cheeks. Lucian’s scrutinizing gaze makes me squirm, yet I manage to talk. “My mother called me earlier and invited herself, but I thought she would be coming tomorrow. Not today.”
Lucian nods slowly, running his fingers through his white hair in a thoughtful gesture. “I see, he mutters under his breath

before smiling. “Well, maybe this is the perfect time to question them and find out if they kidnapped you.”
I roll my eyes. “Again, with the talk of me being this lost lycan princess, huh?”
“I really do believe you are her,” he says. “And today, I intend to prove it to you.”
“Good luck.”
He smiles. “I won’t need it, but thanks.”
Lucian turns toward the mansion, and I swallow thickly. I guess today is the day when I find out whether or not my parents. have been lying to me my whole life….
