Chapter 2
Noelle
My whole face flushes red. Did Lucian just call me kitten?
I squint at him, convinced I misheard him, but he continues smirking at me as if he meant his every word–including the sexy stuff. But that makes no sense because he couldn’t possibly be attracted to me…right?
I swallow thickly. “Are you…are you messing with me?”
“Messing with you? Me?” he asks, placing a big hand on his broad chest to play innocent. “I would never”
I frown. “You’re definitely messing with me.”
“I’m not messing with you at all,” Lucian says, bending down so that we are at eye level.
And that’s when I almost pass out.
Lucian is devastatingly handsome from afar, but up close, he looks like the kind of heartbreaker famous girls sing about. He has long eyelashes, carved cheekbones, and beautiful white hair hat must come from him being half–fairy,
My heart immediately picks up speed since I’m not used to being so close to someone so beautiful. And Lucians close- way too close. With his emerald eyes and sandalwood scent, it’s hard to fight the mate bond. Heat is spreading between my legs already, and the urge to mate with him is so strong that I can barely breathe.
It makes me panic.
“Wh–what are you doing?” I stammer.
He chuckles. “Nervous?”
I snort. “Around you?”
“Yes,” he smirks. “Around me.”
“N–not at all,” I lie. “Just wondering what you’re up to.”
“Studying the beautiful face of my new mate. What else would be up to?”
My whole face burns. “I… I’m not beautiful.”
“You are,” Lucian says and steps forward, causing me to back up since I don’t trust his intentions.
That amuses him.
His lips form a smile. “Don’t worry, little Omega, I’m not going to hurt you. I’m just going to get rid of this…”
Lucian reaches out a hand to remove a stray tear from underneath my eye. I stare at it in pure confusion, my heart thumping faster by the second.
“Th…thanks,” I mumble.
Anything for my beautiful mate,” he says and tilts his head as he studies my face. “Do I need to beat up my brother for you?”
His question makes me laugh. “As if you would do that for me.”

Lucian’s face grows serious, Believe me, Noelle, if my brother were a dick about the rejection, then I would beat the shit out of him.”
I’m about to tell him that I was the one who rejected Sebastian first, but when I open my mouth, a group of girls from the pack gasps and walk towards the stairs to interrupt our conversation
“Hey, isn’t that the bride?” one of them asks.
Another one giggles. “Yeah, but damn, the little rejected bride looks rough.”
“She sure does,” her friend agrees. “Crying all over the Alpha like a pathetic mess. Can’t she keep it together for one day?”
“Where is her pride?”
“Pride? Pfft, her pride isn’t going to save her from her pathetic life. The girl was just rejected by the Beta–if I were in her shoes, then I would be downright suicidal.”
“Yeah, I bet finding out Sebastian was her mate was the only good thing that has ever happened to her.”
“You’re right…shit..do you think Alpha Lucian is talking to her because he realized she is suicidal?”
“Probably.
“Poor thing.”
“I guess being a lowly Omega finally caught up to her.”
“I bet Alpha Lucian is so annoyed for having to deal with her bullshit, though.”
“He definitely is.”
“Yeah, the guy needs a drink after dealing with our broken Omega and her drama… Hey, should I invite him to come and party with us?”
I look up at Lucian, trying to gauge his reaction. He is known for being a player and social butterfly, but when I look at him now, his eyes are dark, his jaw taut, and his nose flaring slightly. He looks just as angry as he does when a fight breaks out the pack.
“Are you okay?” I ask just as someone places their hand on my shoulder. When I turn around, I’m faced with one of the pack elders, an elderly werewolf named Cordon
“How dare you even consider speaking to the Alpha, you pathetic Omega?! You should have crawled away and died after being rejected by Sebastian for Erin!” His fingers dig into my shoulder like claws, and then he shoves me with brutal force. “Get out of here before I tear you apart!”
The second those words leave Gordon’s lips, Alpha Lucian gets between us and grips the smaller werewolf’s neck
It makes my eyes pop.
Will there be a fight?
Alpha…” Gordon chokes out “Wh–what are you doing?”
Lucian doesn’t reply
He simply lifts Gordon off of the ground with one arm, completely unbothered by the other man’s kicking legs. I’ve never seen such strength.
“P–please. Gordon stammers, but it’s no use.
Seconds later, Lucian snaps Gordon’s neck like it’s made of chalk or paper. It happens in less than three seconds. A little crack, and the other werewolf is dead.
Holy shit.
What the hell just happened?
Everyone goes silent while Lucian releases the dead pack elder to fish out a wet tissue from his pocket to wash his hands with. He is completely undisturbed by the blood while I can’t stop staring at the dead body. It’s the first time I’ve witnessed murder.
I stop breathing, paralyzed by the gore and Gordon’s rolling head on the ground. The other pack members seem to be holding their breaths as well.
But Lucian is perfectly calm.
“Is there anyone who would like to threaten my mate?” Lucian aks and lets his emotionless gaze wander from one face to
another.
No one dares to say anything, but I can tell the pack is shocked that their Alpha just called me–the Omega–his mate. The statement hangs heavy in the air, and the girls who had been mocking me just minutes ago now look as though they have swallowed a mouthful of sour grapes.
“I will take that as a no.”
Lucian turns back to face me, and I shiver when I notice his eye aren’t green but bloodshot red. Spooky black veins have formed underneath them, and I realize he is more fairy than man at this moment.
It scares me.
Fairies are dangerous creatures that live on the South continent, and no sane goes there. If your idea of a fairy is a beautiful./ harmless creature like Tinker Bell, then you’re in for a disappointment. Fairies eat humans, and they aren’t tiny–they are huge enough to devour werewolves, and that’s why my inner wolf is whining.
She and I both are terrified of our own mate.
“We should leave,” Lucian announces and grabs my hand just as I hear a familiar gasp coming from behind us.
It belongs to Sebastian, and my heart clenches before I hear the bastard speak.
“Noelle?” he sounds confused. “Wh–why are you leaving with Lucian?”
Without waiting for me to answer, Lucian faces his brother with a smirk. “Your ex–mate is leaving with me because I’m her second chance mate.”
Sebastian gasps. “Impossible!”
“Nothing is impossible, brother,” Lucian answers, his smirk still in place as he hauls me closer to his side. His beastly grip is strangely comforting even as my mind races with fear and confusion.
“But…but she’s an Omega!” Sebastian stutters, his gaze torn between Lucian and me.
“Well noticed, brother. However, it doesn’t change the fact that she is my mate.” Lucian looks down at me. “I also don’t give a flying crap about her ranking. Noelle is my mate, and you better respect her because I am intent on making her my Luna and the mother of my future pups.
Everyone gasps in shock at their Alpha’s words. I can’t blame them. I’m shocked, too. Does Lucian really plan on making me -the weak Omega–his second in command?!

My eyes widen, and Lucian–chuckles. “Don’t look so shocked, sweetheart,” he says and leans down to murmur into my face as he gently brushes away some hair from my face. “You’re my rate, and I need an heir..can you guess what that means,
kitten?”
I’m speechless, with my breath caught in my throat. Lucian’s lip curl into a sly smirk as he says, “It means I can’t wait to tear that dress off you and make you mine.”
After speaking. Lucian leans down and kisses my lips passionately, pulling me closer as if trying to meld our bodies into one. His lips are surprisingly warm against my cold skin, sending tingles of electricity down my spine. Every nerve screams in response–some out of fear, some out of something else entirely
Sebastian growls in the background, but I’m no longer his inate belong to the Alpha now and allow myself to close my eyes and lean into Lucian’s touch.
And it feels good.
Even though part of me fears Alpha Lucian because of his fairy DNA, I can’t get enough of his lips. The man is talented. Passionate and extremely possessive. I’m already wet and addicted to him from simply having him kiss me. Alpha Lucian is a sex god, and when he ends our kiss way too soon. I’m breathless and desperate for more.
Lucian smirks at my disheveled appearance, his alpha presence radiating satisfaction.
“That’s my girl,” he murmurs before facing his pack, which is all staring at us. Even my parents are among the crowd, shocked by what they just witnessed.
But Alpha Lucian doesn’t care.
“Noelle Willis is my mate and from now on, she is also under my protection,” Lucian announces. “Anyone who dares to touch her will be killed by my hands.”
The pack’s whispers spread like a dark cloud, but it’s Sebastian’s low mutter that sends a chill down my spine.
“Yeah, but who is going to protect her from you?”
Those words ring in my ears because Sebastian isn’t wrong. Alpha Lucian, my mate, is half–fairy, which means he is not just. powerful but dangerously unpredictable–the most dangerous Alpha on the planet.
Can I truly trust Lucian to keep me safe from the monster that is hiding inside of him?
