Chapter 1
CHAPTER I
It has been a month.
A month since my father sold me. A month since I started working as a slave in the Moonstone Pack. A month since I had never set my eyes on my buyer.
But what I didn’t know was that the day I eventually set my eyes on my boss, it would mark a change in my destiny.
That morning, I got up feeling refreshed as usual even though there was nothing interesting about laboring at the vineyard without getting paid but since I loved the plants and enjoyed spending time with Violet, my only friend in the estate, I was still positive about life..
“I heard the Alpha would be coming to the vineyard today, Violet started as we stepped out of the servants quarters and made our way to the vineyard.
I’ve always heard about the Alpha, the terrible rumors about him and why showing up at the vineyard wasn’t a good sign. Whispers of his ruthlessness, his cold demeanor, From what I heard in the past one month, it might be someone might be losing their job or their title or getting thrown into the dungeon or worse still, losing their lives which ultimately means. everyone must be at their best behavior and no mistakes would be forgiven.
“Wow, and we are still walking slowly like this?” I asked as I increased my pace and Violet quickly pulled me back.
You need to calm down, I heard he’ll be around by evening and pot in the morning,” she pointed out and I shook my wasn’t about to be a scapegoat when I’ve walked this path as quietly as I could in the past month.
head. I
It wasn’t news to me that everyone despised me. Ever since I arrived at the estate, they’d never failed to show their distaste and being the lowest ranking servant, I was mistreated and made to do all the ugly jobs. It was as clear as crystal that if I didn’t go to the vineyard early and quickly to help others, I might end up being the one getting punished by the Alpha at the end of the day.
“Violet, we need to go,” I told her as I hurried off.
“Iris, you don’t need to be this anxious,” Violet said when she eventually caught up with my pace.
“You were the one that told me he’s ruthless so… I drawled out.
“Yeah, he is but he’s sensible. He won’t just punish anyone without you being in the wrong. I’m actually excited to see him today,” she revealed as her face broke into a sheepish grin and I creased my brows.
“You’re excited?” I asked in disbelief. Why would she be excited to meet the devil?
“Yeah, it’s been long since I saw that handsome face of his. Even though he’s feared by everyone, there’s no denying the fact that he is the most handsome man on earth. I wonder who would be so lucky to be his Luna, she ranted dreamily as I shook my head and quickened my steps. Only Violet would think about his beauty when danger was looming ahead.
It didn’t take long before we arrived at the vineyard and quickly. I set to work. I started by picking up the harvested grapevines while Violet went over to the cellar. Since she grew up in the vineyard, she had grown accustomed to everything and was the assistant to the cellar master unlike me who worked for everyone.
Picking up the harvested grapevines was my first task of the day and no matter how big the vineyard was or how much the grapevines were, I was the only one made to pick them up. It took a while before I could finish and without taking any break even though I was already more than exhausted due to the scorching sun and running around, I was tasked with watering the plants.
While immersed in my task, I was adjusting the irrigation syster when I heard the noise from the other end announcing

the arrival of Alpha Dawn. A sudden wave of unease and anxiety washed over me and I quickly straightened up.

The noise died down but instead of silence, the workers started speaking of him in hushed tones and as he made his entrance, their faces became pale with fear. I didn’t want to look at him so he wouldn’t notice if I was doing the right thing or not so I focused on my job but as curiosity would have it, I glanced up from my work, I caught sight of him striding toward
his presence commanding immediate attention.
Everyone fell silent this time, their faces a mix of fear and respect. I tried to focus on my work and not make any mistakes but as fate would have it, my nervousness took over and I made a terrible mistake.
I had been trying to make some adjustments on the irrigation hose when I lost my grip and the water surged. Before I could react, a stream of water splashed out, and to my horror, it splashed on Alpha Dawn, drenching him immediately. Oh my goodness! Gasps rose from the crowd, and I froze, my face flushing with mortification.
While trying to control the hose, his eyes locked onto mine sending chills running down my spine. It was my first time setting my eyes on him and he was looking just as deadly as he’d been described. I didn’t even have the chance to question whether he was as handsome as Violet claimed or not, all I could get from hiss facial features was a face contorted into a frown blazing coals of fire.
His gaze was icy, a dangerous mix of fury and disdain. My hands trembled as I tried to control the hose but it didn’t budge. The next thing I knew, he was approaching me looking like a wounded lion. Slowly and quietly, he walked up to me, each step echoing ominously in the quiet of the vineyard, signaling the end of me.
I knew I was done for. There was no way I could escape it. The fact that the water was still splashing around as he walked up to me meant there was no way I could escape his wrath.

As he closer to me, I could feel my heart beating so fast and rapid that I feared it would jurup out of my body. When he finally stopped in front of me, my breath hitched. His eyes bore into mine and I tried so hard to look away and look down but something was stopping me.
When our eyes met, an electric shock seemed to pulse between us. I felt something stir in me. My entire being was drawn to him, I felt an undeniable connection that caught my breath in my throat, I felt this deep pull that tugged at my heartstrings
Time seemed to stand still. Every heartbeat echoed in my ears, a reminder of the raw emotion coursing through me. It felt like the world around us had faded into the background leaving only the two of us. I didn’t miss the emotions flickering across his face, mirroring the turmoil that was within me.
At that moment, time seemed to stop. I knew the right thing to do was to apologize but I struggled to find the right words, actually, I struggled to open my mouth. Different thoughts raced through my head, and the only question that stuck with me was if I’d met my end.
But before I could get the answer to that question, something gripped my chest, it was so painful that my vision started blurring. Soon, my legs gave way, and I crumpled to the ground, my vision fading to black as I fainted.
