Chapter 12
CHAPTER 12
When I finally got into my room, the first thing I did was pull of the annoying clothes. I almost tore it off while removing it in annoyance, the day had been so horrible and I was passing my aggression unto the dress. Maybe I’d been so angry or something but I struggled with pulling it off completely most especially with the stuck zip and the frustration made me burst out.
All the tears and frustration that had been building up from earlier came rushing down as the tears flowed from my eyes. I couldn’t take it anymore. I couldn’t stop. I remained on the floor in that same crying position for minutes until I heard someone’s voice. Raising my head. I came face to face with Lyrawho gave me that pitiful look.
“What are you doing here?” I asked, my voice coming out harsher than intended.
“I knocked but there was no response, your door wasn’t locked so I decided to come in. Are you okay?” She slapped her forehead. “What am I even saying? You’re definitely not okay.” She crouched to my level and placed her hand on my shoulder but I jerked it off immediately.
“Are you also here to insult me? Are you here to tell me how worthless I am too? You want to remind me that I’m not fit to be Luna! You
She cut me short.
“I’m not here to tell you any of that. I’m here to check up on you and make sure you’re okay,” she pointed out and a bitter Laughter escaped from my mouth.
“Why would you want to make sure I’m okay? Why do you care? Did Dawn or Devlin send you here? Isn’t it enough that everyone made me the laughing stock, why…”
She cut me short by her action. She pulled me into a deep hug, the warmth of her touch made me stop talking and as she rubbed circles on my back slowly, I knew she really did care. Okay, I wasn’t going to trust her blindly. She had the same blood as Dawn after all, maybe there was a little concern in her.
“You’ll be fine. I’m sure everything would be fine. If the prophecy says you’re the rightful Luna and the one that can stop any impending doom, the one that can heal the sick and help our pack, I’m certain it’ll come to pass. You don’t have to worry yourself over it,” she said in an assuring tone and I lifted my brows as I pulled out of the hug.
“Do you mean it or you’re just saying this to make me feel better? I asked and she shook her head.
“I mean it. I believe in you. From the first time I saw you, I knew you were made for greatness, forget about everything that happened there and freshen up,” she said before pulling me up.
“Thank you. I really appreciate it,” I told her as I flashed her a small smile and she smiled back.
“It’s my pleasure. Anyway, let’s start on a family note now,” she suggested and I scrunched my brows in confusion.
“What do you mean?”
“We are family now which automatically makes us sisters. We need to know more about each other, so, I’ll start,” she said and I bobbed my head. I never expected her to be this cool. She was the exact opposite of her brother. I mean, they didn’t have any similarities at all, not even their physical features or maybe I was missing something.
“Tm Lyra Silverton, the third child of three. I’m twenty one, senior year student, actually, I’ll be graduating next month. I love touring the world and trying out new recipes. You should try them out one of these days” She beamed with smiles as she winked at me and I smiled.
“That’s good to know

“So, tell me about you-
“Well, I’m Iris, twenty–two, graduated two months ago and I was sold off almost immediately…
she cut in
“Aww, that’s sad but I think it’s for the better and…”
The door burst open at that moment startling Lyra and I as we shared a look before Dawn’s figure appeared. I heard Lyra heave a sigh of relief beside me before stepping forward.
“Even though you just got married, you should have knocked instead of…
He cut her short as he glanced at her before talking. “Dad has fallen sick,” he announced, I didn’t miss the edge in his tone and with the way his eyes moved slowly to me, it was apparent was in for another trouble.
“What!” Lyra shouted, startling me for the second time.
“He has the mysterious illness now,”
“But…how come? Oh my goodness! Where is as he?”
“The clinic.
Lyra rushed out almost immediately and I bit on my lower lip as Dawn approached me with fury in his eyes, it seemed like door was walking to me and there was no escaping it.
“You’re coming with me.” He grabbed my hand before I could even blink and attempted to drag me off
“What is it?” I inquired as I pulled him back.
“Are you really asking me such stupid question?”
“I can’t just follow you”
He let out a huff.
“You don’t have a say. My dad has fallen sick and you know what that means, the illness is fast spreading and is affecting everyone even my family. It’s only a matter of time before we start dropping the dead. The need to get your powers today, it’s a must,” he explained and before I could even comprehend his words, he dragged me off, his grip on me tightening.
“Where will I get the powers from?” I asked while trying to steady myself so I wouldn’t fall down due to the dress and the intensity of his grip.
“I don’t know. You have to work it out with seer before the night ends,” he replied as he continued to drag me outside the mansion, not even giving me the chance to breathe. His grip on my hand was already so tight that I was already feeling pain..
“But there’s nothing we can do. We can only wait and…”
He glanced at me.
“We can’t wait!” he yelled and I flinched. Not giving me the chance to recover, he continued dragging me until we got to the seer’s place.
“Alpha… The seer started.
“Get the powers tonight or you both die, he said as he pushed me towards her and I stared at him in disbelief. Was he really threatening me? Did the contract mean nothing to him?

The seer replied. “But, it might not be possible, the..
He cut her short.
“Make it possible or you both lose your miserable lives.” He slammed the door on us and I shared a look with the seer. What have I gotten myself into?
