CHAPTER 13
I ended up sleeping over at the seer’s house that night. It took a while before we realised Dawn had locked us up after he left earlier and had taken the key with him. I had no other choice than to face the seer and have a discussion about the issue at hand.
“Are you really sure about this prophecy?” I started when she dropped the tray filled with mooncakesand juice in front of me, even though I already told her not to bother treating me lika visitor but she’d insisted.
“Lyra made this, she wanted me to try it out, she replied before taking a seat on the couch opposite me. She was a middle aged woman who could still pass for thirties, she didn’t have the look of a seer at all, she had the look and body of that who would be the Alpha’s mother just that she was really far from that though.
“Thank you. You haven’t answered my question yet though, I painted out and she stared at me.
“The prophecy is real. I’ve known it even before you came to the Moonstone pack and I confirmed it after you were banished. It was as soon as you left that everyone started falling sick and now, it keeps increasing,” she explained and I let out a sigh
Then, how come I’m still weak? How come I didn’t get my wolf or the powers?” I inquired and she stared at me for some seconds before sighing
Im not sure about that too. I expected everything to be resolved this night but as it is…” She drawled out and my stomach decided to rumble at that moment reminding me that the only food I’d ate last was in the morning at the Darkwater pack. The day had been so long that I totally forgot the existence of food and even at the mating ceremony where they were numerous amount of foods that left me wondering how they’d planned it so meticulously that nothing was missing even though it had only been in a span of hours, I couldn’t take a bite from any of the food since the ceremony ended up being a disaster and food was the last thing on my mind.
“You should really try the crackers. It’s not poisoned if that’s what you’re worried about,” she told me and I shook my head.
I know, thanks” I picked up the mooncakesand took a bite from it. My taste buds registered the awful taste first and my Instinct stopped me from spitting it out. Quickly, I picked up the cup and gulped down the juice. I didn’t want the seer to notice but I guess my squeezed face gave it away.
“It doesn’t taste nice, right?” She asked, the worry edged in her tone and I gave a small smile.
“I haven’t tasted it yet. I thought Lyra had improved. I’m sorry about that. Should I make you something?” She asked with concern evident in her tone as she rose to her feet while I waved my hand.
“There’s no need for that. You shouldn’t worry yourself about me.”
She shook her head while picking up the plate that still contained the crackers, it was almost as she brought it earlier.
“I can’t let our Luna starve. It’s a grave sin. I think I still have steak from the ceremony. I’m sorry that it’s somehow leftovers but there’s nothing else at home,” she said in an apologetic tone and 1 shook my head. If only she knew it was a royal food to me, the last time I’d ate steak was when my mom was still alive. She would have been so proud and happy for how far I’ve come. If only she was around to witness everything going on, who knows, maybe she could have helped to awaken my wolf.
“I’m okay with it. Thank you for offering me,” I said and she flashed me a small smile.
“I’ll go get it for you.” She rushed off before I could say anything while I looked around her cozy apartment. It was obviously a small room and parlour apartment. Only her frame was hung on the wall and with the look of things, it seemed like she was the only one that lives here. I’m not sure she has any family member.
She returned a couple of minutes later with the steak and as I ate the meal, I couldn’t stop thinking about Dawn’s threat. It

didn’t seem like an empty one but would he flout the contract? I knew things like this were bound to happen which is why I made precautions and yet, it was still looking like the clauses had been mere words to him.
“I’ll go get the room ready for you,” she said, interrupting my thoughts.
“What of you?”
“I have to consult the moon goddess. I’ll be in the altar,” she said and I lifted my brows while looking around the house..
“Altar? The door is locked, right?”
“Yeah, there’s an altar down the hallway. It’s a small room.”
“Oh okay. You’ll be there all night?”
She bobbed her head.
Yeah, we need to find a solution before tomorrow or else the Alpha might push through with his threats. I need answers.

“Oh, I see,” I commented as I watched her leave.
That night, I kept on tossing and rolling. It was hard to sleep with everyone going around me. All I did was try to close my eyes but sleep just wasn’t coming. I ended up pacing the room that night and turning on the bed.
I watched the sun rise that morning as morning came quicker than expected. I got out of bed hurriedly and rushed out to meet the seer hoping there was good news. She was still in the altar when I got to the living room so I had to seat and wait
for her.
It didn’t take long before I heard the key turning sound from outside and soon, the door opened and the Alpha burst in.
“Good morning,” I greeted as I got on my feet while his eyes roamed the area.
“Where is the seer?” He asked, ignoring my greetings and before I could talk, the seer came out.
“Good morning Alpha,” she greeted as she bowed.
“Any improvement or you’re ready to sacrifice your lives?” He questioned and I pursed my lips. The seer glanced at me before clearing her throat.
“There’s a latent gene in her that needs to be activated and for that to happen, an object passed down generations must be found in order to go through a ritual that mustn’t exceed the lunar eclipse,” she explained and I scrunched up my face in confusion. What was she saying? I didn’t understand anything at all, it sounded more like gibberish.
