CHAPTER 14
I wasn’t sure if she was referring to my generation or not because no object had been passed down to me. I didn’t even have any idea of the healing powers because no one ever got sick in my family. Could the object be from my maternal side or paternal side? I didn’t know I was more than confused about her revelation
“So, what are we d
are we doing then? Let her go get the object.” Alpha Dawn ordered and I gave the seer a questioning look.
“That’s the issue now. I have no idea of what object it is.”
Dawn’s face hardened.
“Are you telling me we’re back to square one now? Didn’t you mention lunar eclipse earlier? From what I remember, the lunar eclipse is almost here already, we have how many days left? Do you mean if we don’t get the object before then. everyone would fall ill and it’s possible we all die from this strange illness? Does it mean our pack would go into extinction?” He yelled and I flinched.
Lunar eclipse? Arriving soon? If we don’t get the object then our pack would be wiped out? 1 was trying to wrap my head around the whole thing but now I was getting concerned, no matter how much I disliked the Alpha or some of the pack members, I didn’t want us to go into extinction. I didn’t want us to die of a strange illness that suddenly crept up one day with no one having an idea of what led to it. From what I heard, they just fainted which was the first sign of this mysterious illness and then everyone started acting strange. I mean, it was strange for wolves to fall sick, it was even stranger not to know the source or the cure.
If getting this object would awaken my wolf and give me the healing powers, then why not? I wanted to fulfill my duty as an integral part of the prophecy and a member of the pack.
The seer swallowed. She took a glance at me before talking.
“The lunar eclipse is in four days,” she revealed and my eyes widened. Does this mean our pack would no longer be in existence in four days? Does it mean we’ll all die and I won’t be able to fulfill the prophecy?
“Oh wow. I guess I’m glad we’ll be no more in four days,” Dawn said as a bitter chuckle escaped his lips.
I stepped forward and turned to the seer. “What can we do? What can I do? Can you describe this object maybe I’ll remember if it’s at home or something?”
She shook her head.
“I have no idea about it.”
Dawn scoffed.
“Wow. You have no idea yet we had an idea of a prophecy? Are we sure you didn’t use black magic to cause this illness? Are you just a seer or a witch too?” He accused, venom dripping from his tone as he side stepped me and came face to face with the seer who refused to look up at him.
We are trying to find a solution here. You can’t just throw accusations around and..
He cut me short.
“Shut it!” He said in a belligerent tone and I rolled my eyes.
“Who knows? This illness might be a result of your ruthlessness and bad attitude. It could be the wrath of the moon goddess and…”

He swung his gaze towards que and shouted, “Shut the hell up!”
Before I could open my mouth to respond, the seer interrupted

Tll need to go to the ancient temple for mystical intervention. hink we can find out what the object is and how to get it,” she said and Dawn faced her.
“Are you telling the truth or you’re making things up just to find means to escape after creating this mess?”
I shook my head at his ridiculousness. How could he even think of that?
“I’m telling the truth, she replied. I could sense the sincerity in her tone and Dawn stared at her for a couple of seconds. probably trying to scrutinise her or something.
“Good. Then my guards would go with you, get set, you’ll leave soon.” And with that, he stormed off without waiting for any response. The seer heaved a sigh of relief before turning to me.
“You should return to your quarters. I need to get ready for the trip
“Can’t I come with you? I mean, this matter concerns me a lot and I think…
She shook her head.
“No, you can’t. You’re the Luna now, it’s not proper.”
“But I protested and she shook her head yet again.
“I need to go get ready,” she said with finality in her tone and I knew there was no changing her mind.
“Will you be back today?”
“I should be.” She walked off after that and I stared at her retreading figure until she was out of sight then I made my way out of the house and headed to the mansion. I didn’t miss the disdainful look everyone gave me as I walked to the mansion, the whispers and murmurs were something I couldn’t forget. It was as if they were pointing accusatory fingers at me and they made me feel guilty for a crime I didn’t commit. Okay, maybe I committed a crime for getting married to the Alpha and still not getting my wolf and the healing powers.
Once I got to my room, I pulled off the annoying wedding gown that had been disturbing me since yesterday, it was almost like a symbol of my embarrassment. Dumping it into the laundry basket, I headed to the bathroom for bath but as I stayed under the shower, all my thoughts went back to the most eventful day of my life which was the previous day. The disgrace, the embarrassment, the hurtful words, the…
I didn’t know when tears started rolling down my cheeks. No matter how much I tried to control it, I just couldn’t stop. I ended up bursting out which made me remain under the shower till the moon knows when. I just wanted to pretend that the water was the one affecting my eyes and not the other way round but when I opened my eyes, I saw my mother.
But as I fluttered my lashes, she disappeared from my sight. Was I imagining things or did she really come to pacify me? I sniffed and made my way out of the bathroom.
Walking into the closet, I was surprised by the number of clothes and accessories that filled it. It was like a boutique. It was like the closet seen in dramas. Guilt washed over me at that morbent. I couldn’t bring myself to put on any of the clothes since I hadn’t kepr up my own end of the bargain. I was still wallowing in self–pity when a knock came from the door.
“Who is there?”
“Ruby,” the soft voice came from the other end.
“Come in,” I said and I heard the door creak immediately. I made my way out of the closet and came face to face with her in
the room.

nu, Nov 7
I didn’t miss how dull she was. Even though I’d only known her for less than twenty four hours, she didn’t look herself. I could sense something was wrong. From the way her eyes were shadowed with grief, dark circles forming beneath them as if she hadn’t slept for days to the way her lips trembled slightly, as though struggling to form the words she had to say. Her hands fidgeted nervously at her sides.
“What is it?”
She raised her head to look at me and I could see how her eyes shimmered with unshed tears, threatening to spill over at any moment. She looked as though the words she was about to speak would shatter both of us.
“Luna” Ruby’s voice cracked, barely more than a whisper.
“Call me Iris. Is anything wrong?” I asked, fear gripping me.
“It’s it’s about her.” She stuttered and I lifted my brows.
“About who?” I questioned, impatience taking over me. It seemed like it was bad news and I don’t think I’m ready for that.
“Violet,” she revealed and my eyes widened. My heart sank, and a cold shiver ran through me, my breath catching in my throat “What what about her? Did she fall sick too?”
She looked at me and hesitated for some seconds. Nothing prepared me for the next thing I heard.
“Violet is dead.”
