Chapter 17
CHAPTER 17
“What the hell am I hearing happened today?” Dawn asked as he barged into my room. Quickly, I rushed out of the bed, thankfully, I was fully clothed while watching a movie on the TV when he barged in.
“I don’t appreciate you not knocking.” I told him and he let out a scoff.
“This is my house in case you’ve forgotten, he reminded and I rolled my eyes.
“Well, this is the private room given to me. You need to understand the meaning of privacy, you can’t just barge into the room because you own the house, what if I was naked?” I fired back and his face morphed into a frown.
“How dare you talk to me in that momer? What has come over you?” He inquired and I lifted my shoulders in a half shrug. I wasn’t sure of what came over me too, on a normal day, I was the timid and obedient lady but ever since that rejection, it seemed like everything about me just changed and I could say I was liking this new me.
“Alpha why are you here?” I asked, ignoring his question, not like I had any answer for it anyway
I heard you invited your boyfriend over and he threatened Devlin. Is that true?” He asked, his expression hardening and I almost burst out into laughter. I enjoyed watching his vein pop qut in frustration.
“It doesn’t matter what I say, you’ll believe Devlin, right?”
He dashed me a scowl
“It has happened already so there’s really nothing to do about it. I don’t care if you’re dating that Luca or whatnot but not under my roof, don’t bring him to my house. Idon’t want to see any member of the Darkwater pack. It has happened once already, don’t let it repeat itself or else…”
I lifted my brows, and cut him short.
“Or else what?”
“You won’t know what I’ll do to you.
I’m actually curious. What’s the punishment for cheating? It seemed like Luca was really affected by it so…is it related to why they were banished? Who cheated?” I inquired and he glared daggers at me. The way his eyes were burning with so much rage, I feared it would kill me. It seemed like he was really affected by the whole question. Why was he so angry?
His jaw clenched so hard as he moved closer to me. Even though I was showing a nonchalant exterior, I could feel myself sweating internally as he approached me. When he finally stopped in front of me, I feared he would hurt me or something but instead he only stared down at me with clenched fists.
“Don’t you ever ask me such question again! This is a warning!” He shouted and I flinched. Before I could blink, he stormed out of the room and I let out a breath I didn’t know I’d been holding. It seemed like I was free from something. Did my question trigger something in him? Why was he so mad? Why was Luca mad about it earlier too? With the way Devlin laughed wickedly earlier and her comments, it seemed like there was more behind this whole issue but what could it be? I was suddenly curious.
“It’s a miracle you didn’t get what you deserve,” Devlin’s irritating voice interrupted my thoughts and I swung my gaze towards her.
“How mannerless can you be?”
Her eyes widened in shock.

Chapter 17
“Did you just talk to me in that manner?” She inquired while pointing at her chest and I huffed.

“If you don’t want to be spoken to like that then you should learn some courtesy and manners, now, get the hell out of my room!” I exclaimed, causing her to gaze at me in astonishment as her mouth opened widely.
“You’ve really grown some wings. Now that you’re the Luna, you think you can talk to anyone anyhow forgetting it’s only at temporary job. This is a job, you shouldn’t be too invested in it or else it’ll bite you in the butt. Get a grip and know your place, you’re still a worthless slave sold off by her father,” she retorted, her voice laced with venom, and I shook my head.
I narrowed my eyes as my lips curled into a sneer.
“Oh, is that so? Thanks for reminding me to enjoy it while it lasts. I’m Luna now but you’re nothing. You’re only the Alpha’s mistress, what am I even saying? You only warm his bed when he needs you and I’m certain you can’t be anything more than such worthless crap,‘ I fired back.
Her eyes widened, a flicker of anger and resentment darting across her face.
“Here is a longer version of the scene:
“I’m not going to exchange words with a mere slave,” she sneered, her voice dripping with venom. “You’ll get what’s coming for you soon. you ape from hell,” she spat, her eyes blazing with fury. I chuckled, a low, rumbling sound that seemed to enrage her further.
She glowered at me, her face twisted in a scowl. “You think this is funny?” she snarled, her voice rising. “You think you’re above me now, don’t you?” She took a step closer, her hand on her hip. “Well, let me tell you something, slave. You’re not above me. You’re not even worthy of polishing my shoes.”
I laughed again, a slow, deliberate sound that seemed to push her over the edge. With a final, withering glance, she stormed off, her skirts swirling around her like a tempest. I watched her go, a small smile playing on my lips.
A knock came from the door almost immediately after. At least, someone had the manners to knock this time but when I asked who it was, I realised she was the only one that could actually think of knocking.
“Is anything wrong, Ruby?” I inquired and she shook her head.
“You’ve been invited to the council meeting,” she announced and brows shot up. Council meeting? What! Why? Why was I being summoned?
