CHAPTER 2
Slowly, I opened my eyes and the first thing I saw was the chandelier. With the intensity of the light, I had to close my eyes once again in order to get used to the light then I opened it little by linle but this time around, the first thing I set my eyes ony was a lady with her lips painted in red looking like the devil Cincarnate.
“Are you awake?” She bellowed, making me flinch, and instinctively, I jumped up. I came face to face with a pretty larly whose striking red lips curved into a devilish smile. She was Devlin, the devil herself. She’d always paraded herself in the vineyard feeling on top of the world acting like she was the Lu Actually, she always regarded herself as the Luna even though our pack’s Laima was yet to be discovered
She looked down at me with disdain evident in her eyes. Her piercing gaze made me feel uneasy, as if she could see right through me. I tried to gather my thoughts and find my voice to respond to her question.
“Yes. I’m awake.” I managed to mumble, still feeling disoriented from just waking up. The room seemed unfamiliar, and I couldn’t remember how I ended up there. It was entirely different from what my room in the quarters looked like and judging from how beauutul and high end this was, I could guess it was one of the high officials room.
Before I could finish admiring the room, a resounding slap landed on my face and I stared at Devlin in shock before jumping out of the bed.
“How dare you?“” She shouted and I creased my brows in confusion. She just slapped me for no reason.
How dare you splash water on the Alpha? How dare you faint in front of him and make him carry you to the mansion: How dare you remain unconscious for a couple of minutes?” She yelled, almost damaging my eardrums. She was known for her high pitched tone and shouting in addition just made my ears feel hurt. I wasn’t sure of the response she wanted but all I knew was that the Alpha had helped me after 1 fainted and had brought me into this room.
When I opened my mouth to talk, the door opened revealing the entrance of Alpha Dawn. Quickly, Devlin rushed to him while I fell on my kneels. As he stopped in front of me, I felt that strong pull again as my chest tightened. Why do I keep feeling that way whenever he stops in front of me? Why did I even faint earlier? Was it because of the exhaustion or mental strew!
Im so sorry Alpha Please, forgive me. I apologized while looking down at the floor. I wasn’t sure of what to expect. I didn’t know what my punishment would be
“Dawn, you need to punish her. She deserves the most painful punishment, I heard Devlin say beside him. I wanted to raise my head to sneak a glare at her but I had to resist it.
“Everyone should leave the room this instant!” his deep voice reverberated around the room, and fear gripped me.
“But..” Devlin protested.
Leave me and her alone, he ordered, and I watched Devlin walk out of the room with the beta, but not without dashing me a scowl.
Silence fell and I swallowed. I was left all alone with him and with the way my heart was beating rapidly, I would say he could hear it. In a blink of an eye, he grabbed my throat and I tried to fight for my life. I could see the fury in his eyes as his grip tightened on my neck. I desperately fought for survival, I found it hard to believe I’ll end up dying just because I splashed water on him.
Somewhere in my head, I’d hoped he wasn’t as ruthless as people claimed but his hand closed on my neck lived up to his reputation. I tried to plead but words wouldn’t escape my throat Could this be the end of me?
“How dare a lowly servant like you be my mate?” He finally said and 1 fluttered my lashes. Did he just say mate? Could that be the reason I felt that strong pull and connection? I can’t possibly be his mate, right? I was wolfless even at the age of twenty two and I’d actually come to terms with my human nature being the dominant part of ine.

Chapter 2
Finally, his hand slipped from my neck, releasing me from his grip making me lose my balance as I started coughing. Thankfully, he didn’t strangle, me to death.

He took deep breath, his jaw tightening. “You’re wolfless. You’re half human, half wolf or should I say completely human? You’re just a mere servant. You can’t stand by my side as my Lun. You can’t give me the strength that my pack requires. You can’t be what I need. Someone like you can never be my mate, you can never rule over this pack. You don’t deserve it.”
His words cut through me like a knife, each one sharp and deliberate. I’d been praying for my mate for years only for it to turn out to be the Alpha who bought me last month, the one that definitely despise me.
“You’re rejecting me.” I whispered not knowing he heard me, the realization hitting me like a blow.
“Did you expect me to accept you? Were you thinking this would change your status! Sorry to disappoint you, but yes, I reject you. I reject this bond. You’re not my mate. I, Alpha Dawn, reject a low life like you as my mate. Accept it or go to hell!”
His harsh words pierced through me. The rejection cut deep. His disdain evident. Looks like I wasn’t bound to be loved. I wasn’t loved by my family, everyone despised me and now, my supposed mate hates the idea of ever being with me. I could feel the tears in my throat but I fought so hard to stop it.
As I stood there, rooted to the spot, something else began to grow within me–a cold, hard resolve. I had survived being sold, being mistreated, being looked down upon. I had survived the terror of being in his presence, and I would survive this. I would not let him see how deeply he had wounded me.
“Very well, Alpha,” I said, my voice steadier than I felt. “If that’s what you want, then I accept your rejection.”

“To the forest,” Alpha ordered and fear gripped me. I’ve heard different news about the forest. I’ve heard no one ever returned. It was like the death zone. Was he determined to kill me just to get another mate? Did he hate me that much? Was the day really my last day on earth?
“Alpha, please,” I tried to beg, but it all fell on deaf ears as I got dragged off forcefully. I tried to get out of their grip but they were too strong for me. This was one of the times I hoped I had my wolf but it was like a dream that’ll never come true. I’d only come into the world to suffer till my last day on earth.
