CHAPTER

Since the Moonstone pack estate was situated in the outskirts of Chicago, the forest was closer to the estate, so it didn’t take long before I was dumped there without anything, not even food or my clothing. It seemed like the intention of the Alpha was to kill me, if the forest creatures didn’t devour me then hunger would kill me

Fear gripped me as I roamed aimlessly through the dense forest, feeling utterly lost and disoriented. The tears threatened to spill from my eyes as the darkness of the night shrouded my surroundings, making it nearly impossible to see anything. There was no way I could even see any animal trying to attack me. Every rustle of leaves or hoot of an owl sent shivers down my spine, heightening my uneasiness and fear

As I stumbled over gnarled roots and tripped on hidden obstacles, my heart pounded in my chest, the sound reverberating in the eerie silence of the forest. The cold, clammy air seemed to press in on me from all sides and I could feel my body starting to give away. I tried so hard to push and push, but a hit on my head made me slump

When I opened my eyes, I found myself in a dark room. I wasnt sure of where I was. The last thing I remembered was fainting so how did I get to a room? Was I kept here to be butchered alive? No one knew why people didn’t return from the forest and I guess the experience of being locked up in a dark room first before their judgment was passed. Different thoughts raced through my head as I tried to look around me for a way to escape. Even though I’d been battered, rejected, bullied and mistreated, I still had that tiny hinge of hope to live. Following my mother’s words, I didn’t want

to give up so I scrambled on my feet, my head aching that instant

I shut my eyes and held on to my head for a couple of seconds before finally opening my eyes. Then I caught sight of a small window by the other side of the room Quickly, I rushed to the window and peeped through it, but all I saw were happy people, excited kids playing around, and maids walking about with smiles on their faces

Where was I Was I in a different world? Do people thrown into the forest get to live another life in this area? Was I saved or would I be made a sacrifice? Many questions raced through my head but I couldn’t get any answer

I tried to move the window frame but it wouldn’t budge. I tried to call for help but it seemed the people were deaf to my voice or were they deaf people? It wasn’t hard for them to hear my shouts, so it was either they were ignoring me intentionally or they were deaf

After several trials, I got exhausted and resigned to fate. I curled up on the floor, my body trembling due to the exhaustion, I was trapped yet again. I felt empty. I felt broken. I felt rejected. My heart ached at the thought of this, I was all alone yet again

Ever since my mom’s sudden death, I’ve been all alone. My father was nonexistent, he only came back home to beat me, snatch money from me and go out to gamble and drink to stupor. He was nothing like the father I wanted. He ended up selling me to pay his debts and get more cash for alcohol. If only my mother was still alive. If only I still had someone by my side. Maybe my fate wouldn’t have been this cruel

I was alone in a place I didn’t know and understand, a place I didn’t know my fate, held captive by people who wanted something from me that I couldn’t comprehend, probably my pathetic life

Hours passed, or maybe it was even daysI lost track of time in the darkness. I slept off and woke up again doing literally nothing other than holding my stomach due to the hunger. was still sleeping again when the door creaked open and light spilled into the room making my eyes flutter open

Trying to adjust to the light, I opened my eyes slowly until my eyes landed on a figure at the doorway. Quickly, I tried to jump of my feet but my body was aching so much

The tall and imposing figure approached me with an air of authority that sent shivers down my spine. He was wearing a hurd look, almost looking like he wanted to pounce on his prey which was me. He looked undeniably powerful with his presence commanding the room

When I raised my head to get a good look at him, his eyes, a piercing shade of blue, locked onto mine with an intensity that

You’re the one that can bring an end to evil,he continued and I lifted my brows in confusion. What could he be talking about? What the hell was he saying? What evil was he talking about? Why would I be the one to bring an end to any evil? Was he in his right mind

Who are you?I finally got the right words to ask. A smirk appeared on his face as he stared at me for a long while before finally opening his mou
