Chapter 5
CHAPTER 3
If someone had told me I would go back to the Moonstone park, I would have ignored such person, I wouldn’t have given it another thought but here I was, in the Moonstone estate. It was just as I’d left it three days back. Not like I expected anything to change.
The only thing that changed was the look people gave me this time around. They didn’t look at me like I was just a lowly slave that was sold by her father. They didn’t look at me like I w worthless and shouldn’t even be in their pack. Their was something different in their gares this time I around. I couldn’t quite decipher but it was far from the disgust and condescending look that always welcomed ine.
As I trailed behind the Alpha, my eyes went around trying to see if there was really anyone with a mysterious illness or I’d fallen into a trap again just like my dad had trapped me back then. Ed thought he’d changed for good and followed him with the hopes of being introduced to his new business only for two befty guys to suddenly grab me and drag me to the vineyard. My dad didn’t even bother waving bye to me let alone explaining things, he just turned back like nothing happened and I didn’t get my explanation until I got to the Moonstone pack.
I just couldn’t comprehend what they were saying, I couldn’t understand what was happening just like I found it hard to make my decision earlier. Looking at Alpha Luca, I could see he definitely didn’t want me to agree to Alpha Dawn’s suggestion. If only we’d shifted the new bond process to earlier in the day then I wouldn’t have been in such dilemma,
Since I would have been recognised as a member of the Darkwater pack, it would have been difficult to sever the ties instantly and return to the Moonstone pack but then Alpha Luca had wanted me to take more rest and recover well before forming the new bond with Darkwater pack but as fate would have it, Alpha Dawn suddenly showed up.
My mind was spinning so hard with Alpha Dawn’s request, even though, I already listed out my conditions, I still found it hard to know what to say. Could I really trust him? Was this just another one of his manipulations, or was he genuinely desperate to save his pack? I thought about the people who might be suffering, dying because of this mysterious illness. If I could help them, did I have the right to refuse?
But then I remembered the pain of his rejection, the way he’d treated me as if I were nothing. I had finally started to heal, to find some semblance of peace here with Luca’s pack. Was I really willing to give that up for a man who only came back when he needed something from me?
Finally, I took a deep breath and spoke. “If I agree to this, Dawn it’s strictly business. Nothing more. And when it’s over, you’ll let me go. For good,” I made it clear to him.
Dawn nodded, relief washing over his face. “I’ll let you go,” he promised. “You have my word.”
Luca’s jaw tightened.
You can’t just go like this, Iris. He could be lying,” he said and I turned to him.
“I think I need to go help those people if it’s in my capacity to do that. I’ll forever be grateful to you, Alpha I said and he shook his head.
He tightened his fist but he didn’t say anything. He just stare at me, his eyes full of emotions I couldn’t quite decipher.
The choice was made, but as I stood there between the two Alphas, I couldn’t shake the feeling that this was only the beginning of something far more complicated. Something that could change all of our lives forever.
Now in the Moonwater pack, I only wanted to focus on whatever the prophecy
“Can I speak with the seer?” I inquired once we stepped into the Alpha’s mansion. I’d been unable to get a good look at it the last time since I was brought in unconscious and dragged out but seeing it this day, it was just as others marvelled at its sight It was indeed a sprawling castle and….

“For what?” Dawn asked in return.
“I need to know my role in the prophecy. I have to know what I do,” I explained and he stared at me for a couple of seconds before clearing his throat. It seemed like he wanted to say something terrible or harsh but he probably remembered that I was no longer his slave and I had a mission now.
“You’ll meet her later in the day,” he replied succinctly and I nodded before two ladies rushed up to us.
“Welcome, Alpha,” they greeted immediately,
“Take her to the room I told you guys to prepare,” he ordered and they both bobbed their head then he took a glance at me.
“Go take a rest,” he said and I lifted my brows.
“Won’t I see the sick first? I need to see Violet,” I said and a smirk crept up his face. The only way I could calm down and believe there wasn’t an ulterior motive was if I was certain someone was really ill. Violet was the top reason I agreed to the contract marriage and I needed to be sure she was really sick. I was just so jittery about the whole thing. I needed some confirmation.
“You’ll see them after you get settled in and change. I’ll send one of them to call you when it’s time, he concluded and without waiting for me to say anything, he walked away.
“Please, follow me,” one of the maids said almost immediately and I turned to her. She led me to the stairs and I followed behind her. She stopped in front of a mahogany door and in a split second, she pushed it open to reveal a large room.
I was immediately enveloped in a soothing atmosphere that echoes the tranquility of the forest. Lunar–inspired chandelier and lightnings illuminated the room, casting a gentle glow on the natural materials and earthy tones that dominate the
Toom.
Plush fur rugs in shades of silver and gray covered the floor, leading to a majestic four–poster bed adorned with intricate carvings of the moons, and stars. The bed itself was draped in a canopy of sheer, sparkling fabric that resembles the night sky.
Every wall was adorned with lush greenery, from hanging vines to potted plants, bringing the outdoors in.
“This is your new room now. I hope it’s to your taste,” the young lady said behind me bringing me out of my admiration.
“It is. Thank you.”
She bowed her head and then made her way out of the room whale I still admired the beautiful room. It was my first time in such a pretty room and I still found it hard to believe I would be staying in such a big house and nice looking room all to myself in months to come.
A knock came from the door and I made my way to open it. Once I opened it, the Alpha’s face came face to face with mine and I furrowed my brows.
“Alpha,” I called, almost like a question.
“Get ready for the Mating ceremony.” he announced and before could even comprehend it, he walked off. Wait, what? Mating ceremony? So soon?
