Chapter 6
CHAPTER 6
Mating Ceremony! Why? Wasn’t it too early for that? I hadn’t even settled in yet. I didn’t see the sick yet. I wasn’t sure that there really were sick people in the pack and that I wasn’t being dereived or anything and I needed to get ready for a mating CETEMONY DE Koon as I returned?
Different thoughts raced through my head and I knew I couldnt get the answer unless I speak to the Alpha so I quickly rushed after him but when I got back to my senses, he was nowhere to be found. Did he fly or something? How come he was no longer in sight in a matter of seconds? Or did I remain in my spot for minutes?
The house was just too big that I feared I would miss my way and get lost. I wasn’t sure of where to look to meet the Alpha but luckily, I bumped into the lady that showed me to my room earlier. It still sounded strange to my ears calling that place my room. It didn’t look like 1 was befitted for such a beauty. Even the room at the Darkwater pack wasn’t as big and beautiful as this even though I never stopped marvelling at its sight back then
Guess Alpha Dawn was really the billionaire Alpha. In the outside world of Chicago, he was known as Dawn Silverton, the billionaire heir of PACKS PALATE the top food and wine company in the country. He was the most eligible bachelor who was blessed with both good looks and generational wealth, the envy of every other male and dream of every female. But in our world, he was the most ruthless and powerful Alpha feared by every one. How he led such a double life as a great CEO and cruel Alpha still baffles me
“Do you know where the Alpha is?” I inquired.
He’s in his room,” she replied.
“Where is his room?”
“Down the hallway upstairs, it’s the last room by your right,” she explained and I bobbed my head.
Thank you” I made my way to the stairs but turned back halfway
“I don’t think I’ve seen you before. What’s your name?” I asked and stopped in her tracks and lifted her head to look at me.
“Ruby. I only work in the mansion so you might not have seen me before,” she replied and I bobbed my head
“see“.
“The Alpha doesn’t like anyone coming to his room without notice,” she said in a tone that sounded like a warning or some sort. I only gave her a tight–lipped smile before hurrying off
Once I stopped in front of the mahogany door, I drew in a deep breath before knocking. There was no response at first so I waited a few seconds before knocking again, on the third knock, the door flung open and an angry looking Devlin appeared wrapped in a robe.
Oh wow.
“Why the hell are you here?” She yelled, closing the door quickly and then crossing her arms like a guard in charge of the
door.
“I need to speak with Dawn.” Before my response could even settle in the air, a resounding slap landed on my face leaving my mouth hung open as I stared at Devlin in shock.
“How dare you? Why would you call the Alpha by his name? You’re still nothing but a lowly slave who only got lucky. Just in case you’ve forgotten, the only one allowed to call him by his name is me, I’m the rightful Luna. You’re only here as a healer. Now, get the hell out of my sight!” She thundered, pointing her index finger at the other direction.

“I’m not leaving until I see the Alpha.
She let out a scoff and clapped.
“Wow, you’ve grown some balls, right?”
The door opened abruptly at that moment and the Alpha steppeil out, Devlin quickly clung unto his arms but he swiftly. brushed her off instantly.
“Why are you here?” he demanded, his voice cold and piercing.
“I’m not sure I heard you right earlier, I started and he cut me off immediately.
“It’s just as I said, Get ready for the mating ceremony. Ruby would help with the preparations.”
“You mean today?” I asked again.
“Are you deaf?” Devlin interjected and I almost scowled at her but focused on the Alpha instead.
The ceremony is today, the earlier the better
“It’s so soon. I haven’t even seen any sick person yet. It feels like you’re rushing the whole thing when…
He cut me short again.
“If you want to meet the sick people then fine, Ruby will take you to the clinic. The lawyer will bring the contract later in the day and the ceremony would be held tonight,” he explained. It still felt so soon to me, it was just too early.
“Why can’t the ceremony wait till tomorrow?”
“How dare you question the Alpha’s orders?” Devlin shouted and I glanced at her.
“We are in haste. If we don’t act fast then they’ll die,” Dawn explained and I let out a sigh.
“Okay then. I’ll go check on them now and when the lawyer brings the contract, I’ll let you know if there’s any other thing I need to subtract or add,” I concluded.
“The nerves!” Devlin hissed then I turned to take my leave..
Walking into my new room, I drew in a deep breath as I shut my eyes and leaned on the door. When I opened my eyes, at strange figure suddenly appeared before me, causing a jolt of surprise to course through my veins. Was I dreaming or something? I had to close my eyes again and open it to be sure wasn’t seeing things. I wasn’t certain I’d never set my eyes on her before. She was such an ethereal beauty who had a fair skin and long flowing black hair, it seemed like they were butt length. Did she fall from the moon?
She sat on the bed with her legs crossed and hands spread on both sides with a curious or was it creepy smile playing on her lips, adding a touch of enigma to the situation. Dressed in an elegant gown that didn’t quite fit the typical uniform of the maids or workers, she exuded an air of mystery. I couldn’t help but wonder how she had managed to enter the room.
Her gaze met mine, and I found myself captivated by the intensity in her eyes.
“Who are you?” I managed to voice out and she uncrossed her legs.
“Your sister–in–law, she announced as she got on her feet and in a split second, she was enveloping me in a deep hug. Sister- in–law? Does the Alpha have a sister?
“You know I had to travel down here to see the person he’s finally getting married to after all these years. I’m so glad the moon goddess decided to give him a second chance mate, she said and my brows shot up before her grip on me loosened and she stepped back to take a good look at me.

“Second chance–mate?” I asked, surprise evident in my tone. It was a news to me. I never knew the Alpha once had a mate. Different questions rushed through my head at this news. What happened to her? Was she missing? Did she run away? Did he banish her too or did he…kill her?
Oh my gosh! I gasped and the snap of fingers across my face brought me back to reality.
“What’s wrong?” She asked and I cleared my throat.
“I never knew the Alpha had a former mate.”
“Yeah, he did,” she replied with a wide smile.
“What…what happened?” I inquired in a cursory tone. Should she even be trusted?
“No one knows. We all believed she died. She suddenly went missing few days to their wedding,” she explained and my eyes widened, almost popping out of their sockets.
“Died?” I asked again and she bobbed her head. Oh my goodness! Did he kill her? Could he be that wicked and kill his mate few days to their wedding? What was I even thinking? I mean, he almost killed me after finding out I was his mate too. Did 1 fall into his trap again?
“Yeah and you know what, you’re just like her. You have the same eyes, there’s only one person that has violet eyes like you and it’s Freya. You guys look so alike. It’s truly remarkable how similar your features are to hers. You could pass for siblings. 1 think he decided to marry you because you remind him of Freya,” she said and my heart skipped a beat and ears rang bells.
It was my first time being told I looked like someone else and it was the first time I’ll hear someone had the same eye color me. And of all people, it had to be Alpha Dawn’s former mate? We look so much alike that we could pass for siblings? Worse of all, Alpha Dawn deceived me into marriage because I looked like his former mate under the guise of a mysterious illness? What if he sees her in me and plans to kill her over again? What did I get myself into?
Oh my gosh!
