Chapter 8
CHAPTER 8
To protect the pack from impending doom, the alpha must marry the one he rejected. Only through this union can the darkness be driven away,” the seer explained and I stared at her in confusion. I couldn’t comprehend what she said. Somehow, it sounded different from the prophecy the Alpha had told me. There was no sickness here, it sounded more like what Alpha Luca had mentioned. What was really going on?
It had been hard for me to meet with the seer since I didn’t know where she was staying, I never even knew we had a seer in our pack. After I finished talking to Dawn earlier, 1 headed to the living room in search of Ruby hoping she would lead me to the seer’s place but Ruby was no where to be found. I had to go through different circles in the mansion almost getting lost until I bumped into Lyra who was just stepping out of the swimming pool.
“Do you know how to swim too?” She asked with a wide smile on her face as she picked up the bathing robe and wrapped it around her body.
“No.” I shook my head and she lifted her brows as she approached me.
Then why are you here? Were you looking for me?” She stopped in front of me this time as her lips spread into a grin.
“Do you know where I can meet the seer!” I asked and her brows creased.
“You want to meet the seer, why?”
Theed to speak to her about the prophecy.”
“You want to know more about the prophecy?”
“I need to know what I’m getting into.”
She let out a sigh
“I know my brother rejected you and all and you’re definitely still pissed at him but we need you,” she said as she placed her hand on my shoulder.
“Which is why I need to speak to the seer and understand how to go about it. The whole prophesy thing is so confusing and I need to be clear about it, I explained to her and she bobbed her head.
“Okay. Her place is around the vineyard, you know the only house standing there?” She asked and I nodded.
The one everyone is restricted from getting close to?”
“Yeah, it’s that one. I think I should take you there since only the Alpha’s family can enter there and you aren’t one here. Though, you’ll be soon.” She nudged my shoulders as she smiled at me.
“Thank you.”
“Let me go get changed then. Let’s go.” She took my hand before I could blink and dragged me to her room. It was the room beside Dawn’s office and the decor was really similar to mine. It took a while before she could finish dressing up because she couldn’t stop showing me the clothes in her boutique–like closet asking for my opinion even though at the end of the day, she never wore the dress I picked, instead, she wore the first ever dress she’d showed me. If only she’d just worn it then, I wouldn’t have gotten tired of following her around trying to hurry her.
As we headed to the vineyard, I didn’t miss the way people looked at us and whispered most especially when we stopped in front of the lone house. It was definitely shocking to them since only the Alpha’s family were allowed to visit the seer but here I was, the lowly wolfless slave, guess, my status had really changed overnight.

The seer was more than happy to see me and she welcomed me instantly with a wide smile then I pushed ahead with what I
came for

“I don’t understand, what’s this doom you’re talking about?”
“We don’t know it yet but we need to prepare ahead. It could be a war, an attack or even something as worse as our pack being wiped out,’ she explained and I squeezed my face.
“You have no idea yet and the Alpha already dragged me down here? From the Darkwater pack, I heard I’m the one that can bring an end to all evil, does it correlate with the impending doom?” I inquired and she stared at me for some seconds before shaking her head.
“It would be best to avoid the Darkwater pack, she replied with an edge in her tone. It sounded so much like a warning and now, my head was jumbled up.
“Why?”
“To restore balance and peace,” she replied succinctly and I heaved a sigh. It was apparent she didn’t want to say more than that so. I decided to let it go.
“Anyway, how is the illness involved?”
“You’re the only one that can heal everyone from this mysterious illness that’s threatening to bring our pack to extinction and to awaken your healing powers, you need to get married to the Alpha.”
I sighed yet again.
“The only thing I need to do is to get married to him? For how long? Do I have to remain the Luna forever?”
“The only thing I know is that the union must last through the lunar cycle of six moons, each cycle representing a phase of renewal and reconciliation,” she explained and I nodded. I was able to get the timeline of what I wanted, from her explanation, it was obvious the marriage only needs to last for six months.
Later on, as I settled in my room, Ruby came over with a file that obviously contained the contract and as I went through it. I could see the Alpha had made it only to suit himself even though I already listed my wants earlier. Probably, he thought I wouldn’t read it or something and decided to deceive me but when dealing with Alpha Dawn, I’d heard of how cunning and brutal he was so I had to be careful not to sign my life away.
But out of everything, my eyes caught sight of a hidden clause and as I read this clause, my eyes widened in shock.
My fingers trembled as I read the words again: “Upon completion of this contract, all rights, freedoms, and personal decisions…”
What My mouth hung open as I scanned the clause again, my heart racing as I read it all over again to be sure I wasn’t seeing this but I definitely wasn’t. There was no way he could be serious. He couldn’t be planning to trap me like this…
My pulse quickened as I realized what he was asking. It wasn’t just a marriage; it was a death sentence….
