Chapter 2
Five years later, on a highway of Willowmere, Olivia relaxed in the backseat, leaning against Eric. “Hey, Eric, about that doctor you mentioned, can she really sort me out! Think she can work her magic on me?”
Olivia had this heart issue, and Eric had gone all out to get her fixed up. Finally, Willowmere Hospital snagged the famous Dr. Garcia from overseas. Word had it that despite her youth, she was a real whiz with the scalpel, especially for internal surgeries. They called her the “Surgical Wizard” in the medical world, boasting a 100% success rate in all her operations.
Eric just gave a nonchalant “Hmm“. But Olivia seemed a bit annoyed, pouting as she complained, “Someone so young can’t have that much experience. How’s she gonna operate on me?”
She didn’t doubt the rumors about the doctor’s skills, but the doctor’s name gave her the creeps. Sharing the same surname and initials as Ashley- was it just a coincidence!
As they turned off the highway onto a secluded road, a villa appeared in the distance, nestled at the foot of the mountain. Eric said casually, “Wait here Ill go check it out
Once Eric got out, Olivia followed suit, staying close to the car door and waiting for him to come back. Suddenly, a Pomeranian popped out of the bushes, wagging its tail happily at Olivia. Surprised, Olivia screamed and swiftly kicked the dog’s belly hard. “Get lost, stupid dog
The Pomeranian yelped in pain, scurried off from the kick, then dashed back to its owners, howling as it went.
“Hey, Joyce!” Suddenly, Ryan Garcia, muddy as he emerged from the bushes, completely drenched from the rain, quickly scooped up the injured
pup.
The poor pup, kicked hard earlier, was in rough shape and started throwing up in his arms.
A moment later, Chloe Carcia, looking worried, came out of the bushes. “Ryan, what should we do? Joyce seems really hurt. Is she going to die?” Olivia glanced at the two kids before her, sensing a weird familiarity with their faces. Before she could speak, a chilly voice behind her asked, “What’s happening?
Olivia rushed over to Eric and threw her arms around him. “A dog just came out of nowhere and tried to bite me
Hearing this, Ryan, holding the puppy, was furious “That’s not true. Joyce never bites, and she wasn’t trying to hurt you. This is our spot. Who said you could park here!” The kid, maybe four or five, looked adorable, speaking with a blend of childlike innocence and logic.
Eric glanced over and was immediately intrigued. He had this nagging feeling he’d seen these two kids somewhere before. After a brief pause, he called out, Tristan.
Tristan Blackwood, Eric’s assistant, stepped forward and squatted down to talk to the kids, “Sorry about that. Can I take the dog to get treated?” But Ryan stood his ground. “No need. This is our home. Please leave.”
