Chapter 35
Ashley smirked at Olivia’s assumption that everyone talking to Eric had hidden agendas. “That’s very narrow–minded of you. To me, there’s nothing worth seducing in him, even though he might be important to you.”
Mocking Eric seemed like the best defense against his advances. If a few cutting remarks could keep him at bay, Ashley was prepared to use them
more often.
Eric, observing from the side, was taken aback by Ashley’s sudden criticism. He couldn’t comprehend why she was belittling him. He scowled. feeling bitter. His once admiring gaze on Olivia now held disdain. After all, today’s public embarrassment was somehow linked to Olivia. Ashley’s words left people present in a state of mixed emotions. Olivia was shocked to realize that her efforts to impress Eric, who didn’t value her, were in vain. She had been deceiving herself all along.
The office fell into an uncomfortable silence, with Olivia lowering her head, remaining speechless.
The tension was broken by Chloe’s sudden giggle. “Why so serious?” she chuckled, her gentle tone casing the embarrassment.
Ryan taunted, “It’s ridiculous, right, Chloe? She’s accusing Mom of seducing her man.” He sneered at Olivia, who was being assisted back into her wheelchair by the maid.
Olivia felt humiliation wash over her, earning a bad reputation for jealousy and irrational behavior. Clutching her clothes tightly, she sat in qu distress. Sensing the discomfort, the maid prepared to wheel her away.

Glancing at Eric, Olivia noticed his lack of focus on her, a sense of foreboding creeping over her mind. She realized that pushing him further could endanger even her position as his fiancée. It seemed wiser to undergo surgery soon and have her parents press the Anderson family for marriage. Reluctantly, Olivia mumbled an apology to Ryan and Chloe
“It’s fine, Miss. Our teacher always says it’s admitting mistakes that matters. Now that you know it was your fault, we won’t hold it against you.” Chloe responded slowly, her sweet voice sounding endearing.
Fric couldn’t help but admire the little girl. He envisioned how delightful it would be if she were his daughter–adorable, kind, and sensible.
Olivia’s expression darkened as she glared at Ashley and gestured for the maid to wheel her away. She understood the need to remain composed- As her mother advised, joining the Anderson family was the priority at this moment.
As Olivia left. Ashley finally turned to Eric and said in an impatient tone, “Mr. Anderson, if you’re done, please leave. I’m done with work and heading for dinner. She swiftly dismissed him, showing little regard for his purpose. Her shift had ended, and lingering seemed unnecessary. Initially surprised. Eric glanced at the e gifts on the floor and remarked, “Dr. Garcia, wouldn’t it be polite to invite me Ashley frowned at his audacity. Bringing gifts and then expecting a dinner invitation seemed presumptuous to her. The idea of dining with him only disgusted her,
