Chapter 4
When Ashley returned home in the afternoon, the unexpected visitors were gone. Instead, her two kids swarmed around her, chatting non–stop.
ey complained that the female guest had kicked Joyce, despite Joyce not biting her, and accused her of lying.
Chloe chimed in sweetly, “But the guy with her was alright. He apologized and got a vet for Joyce. It’s just her being a pain.” She sat on the couch. swinging her legs and cuddling the puppy. Thank goodness Joyce is okay.”
Ashley smiled and patted their heads. “Alright, from now on, don’t open the door when I’m not around, even if they say it’s for treatment. What if it’s some creep pretending and trying to snatch you?
The two kids mumbled their agreement and snuggled into her hug.
Mommy, the
guy left his card and asked you to call him when you got back, Ryan said, handing the card to Ashley.
Ashley glanced at the name on the card–Eric Anderson, CEO of Anderson Group. Her face paled, and her fingers tensed. Memories from five years ago flooded back. She hadn’t expected him to show up at her doorstep so soon after returning to Willowmere.
Feeling her unease, Ryan cautiously asked, “What’s wrong. Mommy?”
“Mommy’s fine, just a bit tired. You two go play, I’m gonna relax upstairs for a bit” Ashley headed to her bedroom and closed the door. As soon as she did, her phone rang. It was Noah Sullivan, CEO of Willowmere Hospital
“Dr. Garcia, I heard Mr. Anderson stopped by your place today but missed you. Can yo
you come to the hospital tomorrow?” Noah asked.
Ashley’s grip tightened on the phone, her voice steady as she asked, “How’s the patient?”
Noah responded, “The patient is Olivia Garcia, heiress to Garcia Group and Mr. Anderson’s Bancée. She’s dealing with a serious heart condition, and Mr. Anderson has chosen our hospital for her surgery. Dr. Garcia, this is not an average case; treat it with utmost care.
Ashley was surprised to learn Olivia was the patient. “Okay, she replied with a shrug, tossing her phone onto the bed before reclining and gazing up at the ceiling quietly. Anyway, she found herself anticipating their reunion after five years.
Sitting in his study at the Anderson Villa, Eric was confused. Dr. Garcia should have contacted him by now. Why hadn’t she responded to his card? He turned to Tristan. “Get me all the info you can on Alice Garcia
Tristan paused before explaining, Dr. Carcia keeps a low profile. Beyond her medical records and credentials, she avoids interviews and sharing photos, so there’s not much to find. However, we’ve scheduled her expert consultation for tomorrow. She’ll be there.
Eric drummed his fingers on the desk, contemplating, before finally muttering, “Fine.”
