Chapter 13
Jordan’s bodyguard dated toward Holly and clamped a hand mer her mouth.
Meanwhile, Amsel kept crying and asking to Sabrina after waking up, feeling lightened, Jordan’s heart ached when he saw Ansel like that. He pulled the latter into his arms and said, “Be good, ok? take you to see your mother when you’ve better.”
Ansel didn’t seem to hear him. He could only think about the things the other children and Holly had said. He also thought about the photos on the billboard. “Does Mom not want us anymore because we went to see Holly without her knowing, Dad?**
He didn’t know what an affair was. All he knew was that for dan would frequently take him to see Holly behind Sabrina’s back. He would also beg for dan to take him to Holly when he wanted tot snacks that Sabrina wouldn’t give him or play with toys Sabina wouldn’t buy for
Jordan felt like someone was tightening their fist around his heart when he saw how depressed Ansel was. The pain made him feel like he was suffocating if not for his moment of rashness. Ansel wouldn’t have ended up like this
He parted his lips, but the words didn’t come. Instead, he caressed Ansell’s head before saying bitterly, “Yes, she left us because we did something wrong. That’s why we have to find het and apologize to her.”
Where were they going to start looking, though?
Between October and December, the Faust family dispatched countless men to search the world for Sabrina. However, noe turned with news of her.
This changed when Jordan’s assistant, Mason Lodge, called him one day. “We’ve found Mrs. Faist, sir.
Jordan and Ansel didn’t hear the rest of his sentence. They immediately left for the address he sent them. They were stunned when they arrived at the crematorium.
Jordan’s expression darkened as he grabbed Mason by the collar. “What the fuck are you playing at? Why would Sabrina be at a crematorium?”
Mason looked sorrowed as be handed Jordi a stack of documents. “Take a look at this, sir”
Jordan took them. He staggered backward and collapsed onto the seat behind him when he saw the terminal illness diagnosis and proof of cremation.
What had he just read? The report indicated that Sabrina had been diagnosed with a terminal illness ages ago. That was why she’d come to the crematorium half a month ago to book a
memation for hersel
Half a month ago. Wasn’t that the day he’d accompanied Holly there?
He’d asked Sabina about her reason for being at the crematorium, but she’d brushed him off with an excuse. At the time, he hadn’t thought much of it because he’d been so focused on Holly Ho tightened his grip on the documents as he started trembling uncontrollably.
Ansel burst into tears when he heard them talk about Sabrina’s death. He recalled how a kid at kindergarten had been absent for a long period–he’d only learned that the kid’s mother had died in an accident after asking one of the teachers.
He didn’t know what death was, but he remembered the teacher telling him that it meant the deceased would never return anymore. He wouldn’t ever see them again
Did this mean Sabrina would never return? Would he never see her again?
He couldn’t handle the shock and bad news, so he fainted while crying. Jordan shot to his feet, wanting to catch him, but he spat out a mouthful of blood when he moved
It had been 30 years since the Faut family had last held a funeral. The last one had been for Charles‘ first wife. This time, it was for Sabrina, whom everyone thought had died of an illness The guests couldn’t help wondering why both the wives had died of illnesses. Had their husbands affairs caused their deaths?
Josdanneeled before Sabrina’s unnumbly as the conversation with Mason at the crematorium ran through his mind.
Mason had told him that Sabrina had gone to the crematorium alone to make a reservation for herself. She’d also told the employee that there was no need to inform her family after her
Mason had also found out that she’d told the employee to scatter her ashes after the cremation. She hadn’t wanted to leave Jordan and Ansel with anything related to her.
Jordan smiled bitterly as the tears flowed. He only learned how much she’d hated him and Ansel when he returned home to pack her stuff. She hadn’t laft anything for him, even going so far as to delete all the photos of her he’d saved in his phone. They’d had to get a photo of her from the police database for her funeral.
It was evident that she’d hated them to the core. Jordan buried his far
Lace in his hands and started sobbing
Ansel had gotten a high fever upon learning about Sabrina’s death—it refused to break. He couldn’t even attend Sabrina’s funeral.
Despite the doctors Jordan had hired to treat him, it had still taken a toll on his health. He’d had no choice but to be taken out of kindergarten so he could recuperare at home.
