Chapter 13
Without a doubt, Mom’s three hundred thousand dollar lawyer won the suit.
Since my father cheated, all their assets were under my name, leaving my mom with nothing to her name. David had to give half of his remaining two hundred thousand dollars to my mom.
“After all these years, Yvonne, must you go this far?” David asked.
She did not even entertain him with a look. “You have five minutes to transfer a hundred thousand dollars to my account before the court does it for you.”
She took my hand and left. I could hear him shout at us from behind. “I climbed my way up here once! I can climb my way back again!”
Mom was speechless. “And I let him take advantage of my power and wealth…”
The court instructed Janice to return my parents‘ shared property and the money David had spent on her. Unable to repay, the banks deducted her credit score and put a stop to all extravagant spending.
Security guards also chased them out of the villa, and I heard that David ended up living in a small rented
apartment.
I did not see Janice again.
Sometime later, David had actually forced Janice to carry his child to full term, and Wilda would frequently bring her gang of delinquents to harass Janice and her family. Janice was always seen screaming and shouting like a madwoman.
Her bedroom photos and videos also began to spread online.
Without the protection of status and wealth, everyone began to bully them. Even their child was not excused.
They were right about one thing: it had been too long since Mom managed the company, and it was growing faster than she could keep up with.
In the end, she decided to sell the company for an astronomical amount of money.
It was more than enough money to sustain us for centuries, and my mom said she would simply apologize to my grandparents when she saw them again.
Not that they would fault her for it; all they wanted was for their daughter to be happy.
Less than half a year after her divorce, Mom and our ex–neighbor started seeing each other.
I had graduated, too, and was starting my own branded company.
I knew that David tried many times to meet my mother.
The man would stand outside our door and kneel, begging my mom to forgive him. “I’m sorry, Yvonne. It’s all my fault. I just made a mistake any other man would’ve made! Please, forgive me!”
It was not easy going from riches to bags.
Both David and Janice despised the poor and loved the rich; they valued money above everything else.
Every time he dropped by, Mom would call for the security guard. “Guards! How could you just let a beggar in? God, he’s so smelly! Throw him out.”
She knew how to hit where it hurt.

Chapter 13
Coming up empty–handed here, David had Janice seek me out instead.
When I saw Janice again, she looked haggard and worn down. There was none of the pride left, and she looked like a puppet with its strings cut. She begged me to pity them on behalf of their child.
She promised that they would pay me back once David had enough funds to start his own business and their lives were back to how they once were.
Even now, she still naively believed that I would help her. I do not deny that their child was pitiful, but that was none of my business.
I pulled out three bottles of dog pee and poured them over her face, making sure to avoid her child. Then, I slapped her across her face.
I leaned over with a victorious smile and whispered, “I’m not going to waste my energy and time using dirty tricks on you, but you deserve everything that happened to you. This is karma, for what you did in this life and the last.”
She stopped shouting. Her eyes widened, and I watched anger, jealousy, and resentment brew within them.
“Sylvia! You’re just lucky you were born into a better family! If I had the life you did, I’d live a much better life than you are now!” She growled but did not dare to hit me back.
Karma, indeed, was a b*tch.
What Mom did was self–defense after realizing her husband had cheated on her.
On the other hand, I liked giving my enemies a taste of their own medicine. However, I would never stoop as low as Janice did.
