My eyes were red as I suppressed the urge to beat Janice up.
“I’m not scared of a biting dog, Janice.” I did not intend to whisper, so the classmates around us heard what I said.
Janice Huffed. “So what if I am? As if anyone would dare to stand up against me anyway!”
Those words were for me, but also to establish dominance among our classmates.
I did not say another word.
When she walked away, I stretched my foot to trip her, and everyone laughed.
Janice glared and slapped me across the face. “You b*tch! Just you wait! I’ll make you pay for this!”
This was the first time she hit me in this life, but I was not in a rush to hit back. I had suffered worse days, and it was time for me to make her life a living Hell.
If she loved status and power so much, then all I had to do was praise and raise it even higher. After all, the higher she stood, the harder she would fall.
Once class was over, I rushed home.
“Mom. What’s going on? Why is Janice Dad’s illegitimate daughter?” I did not understand.
My mom settled me down and brought me a cup of water. “Calm down first, I’ll tell you what happened.‘
Last night, Janice had returned home with my dad. He admitted it himself that Janice was his illegitimate daughter.
When my mom heard Janice’s name, she stayed calm and treated her kindly but quickly had someone run a DNA
test.
Unlike the one on Dad’s hands, my mom’s report found no blood relation between them.
This meant that Janice wanted to integrate into the school using YL’s name.
After spending so much time with my father last time, she slowly became an expert in his preferences. The fact that she was a university student then also made her all the more exciting to him.
I had to admit that she was smarter this time around, being my dad’s illegitimate daughter instead of his mistress.
Last time, she had not dared to leave the house because of what everyone was calling her.
“I’m slowly transferring the company’s shares and assets under your name. Divorce processes will be easier once I find evidence of your father cheating.” My mom’s words pulled me back to the present.
“Don’t worry, Sylvia. I’m here. I won’t let the same thing happen again.
“No one will hurt my daughter again. Not even your dad.”
I was worried my mother’s kindness would prevent her from getting a divorce. Still, it seemed like I had underestimated her.
She may have grown up sheltered, but she was also educated in arts, legal matters, and business.
When it came to divorce, whoever started planning first would always have the upper hand.
