Chapter 3
1/7
I said, “Kayla, no matter what happens between me and Sean, you will always be my family and the grandma of the baby in my belly.
“But you… Have you really thought it through? What if Frank doesn’t agree to a divorce?”
I looked at Kayla with some worry. After all, it was easy to get married but difficult to get divorced nowadays.
Kayla smiled. There was no sadness on her face but just unusual calmness.
She kept stroking her bracelet.
After a while, Kayla said firmly, “Even if Frank doesn’t agree, I’m determined to divorce him. After so many years, it’s time for me to live for myself.”
Seeing her firm attitude, I felt relieved.
We packed as quickly as possible and prepared to head to my
apartment.
When we arrived at the gate, a car drove over at high speed.
I didn’t even have time to react before Kayla quickly pulled me back.

2/7 But we still fell to the ground. I was frightened. Besides, because of the emotional fluctuations just now, I fainted on the ground.
When I opened my eyes again, I saw the ceiling of the hospital.
Kayla asked me anxiously, “Are you feeling unwell? I’ll go call the doctor.”
I shook my head, and I seemed to know that something had happened.
I stared at the ceiling blankly and asked calmly, “Is the baby gone?”
Kayla paused for a while and then sighed, “The baby saved you and left.”
I didn’t even shed tears. People wouldn’t cry when they were in great grief.
I had seen the license plate number of the car that had almost hit me.
The car was Angela’s, but the driver was a strange man.
In despair, I glanced at Kayla and said, “I’ll let them pay the price.”
Kayla and I made an appointment to see Angela.
Angela looked at us arrogantly. There was no trace of the

gentleness she had always shown in front of Sean and Frank.

Angela said with a smug smile, “Kayla, you already know that I’m pregnant with the heir of the Nelson family, right?”
Kayla and I just looked at her indifferently as if we were looking at a clown.
Angela added arrogantly, “The only heir of the Nelson family.”
Kayla said calmly, “Enough. We are here to ask you for a favor. Cooperate with me, and I will give up my position as the hostess of the Nelson family to you.”
Angela was surprised.
“I’m serious. I want to divorce Frank, your unrelated brother.” Kayla raised her voice and deliberately emphasized the word “brother“.
It attracted people around to look over curiously.
Kayla handed Angela two divorce agreements. “Let Sean and Frank sign the two divorce agreements. I promise not to bother you anymore, and I will divorce Frank immediately.”
Angela glanced at me with a puzzled look.
I said, “I haven’t divorced Sean yet. You are his aunt, and I respect you as my elder. I don’t think you want me to reveal whose baby you’re carrying, right?”
Chapter 3
Angela didn’t say anything, but there was a trace of embarrassment on her face.

She snorted, “You are talking nonsense. Is this how your mother taught you to talk to elders? You underbred bitch.”
Angela broke the last peace between us.
Kayla no longer cared about her dignity, and her voice gradually became louder. “Who do you think you are? Angela, don’t forget that you are just the adopted daughter of the Nelson family.
“Even if Brenda and Sean are divorced, you are still Sean’s
aunt.”
Kayla looked fierce and stood in front of me to protect me.
Angela seemed to be angered. She didn’t say anything but just glared at us with bloodshot eyes.
Frank had sterilization after Kayla had given birth to Sean, and no one else knew about this.
Even I had just known about it.
Therefore, the child in Angela’s belly couldn’t be Frank’s.
There were only two possibilities left. The child was Sean’s, or it was another man’s.

Angela finally agreed.
After Kayla and I moved into the apartment, we began preparing for the divorce.
5/7
We instructed the best lawyer and asked him to let Frank and Sean leave with nothing.
We also provided many intimate photos of Frank, Sean, and Angela as evidence.
It turned out that Kayla had been preparing for this long ago.
I looked at Kayla. Her hair had turned a little gray, but she was still elegant and gentle.
I felt distressed for her. I didn’t know what she had been through before or how deeply she had been hurt.
Kayla sighed, “Brenda, do you think I’m throwing a tantrum? I’m already in my 50s, and I actually want to get a divorce.”
I patted Kayla on her shoulder gently. “You are right. It’s never too late to start over. It’s the same for me.”
Kayla used to be a painter. But after getting married, she gave up her beloved career and devoted herself to her family.
Later, after having Sean, she became a full–time housewife.
When Sean and I were married, he had asked me to quit my job and stay at home to be a housewife, but I refused.

Chapter 3
I had depended on others for a living since I was a child. Although I relied on Sean, I knew very well that I needed to work and had the ability to support myself.
Angela was efficient. Two days later, she gave me the signed divorce agreement.
I looked at Sean’s signature on the divorce agreement. It was familiar but strange.
Sean and I had spent three years getting to know each other and had fallen in love for three years, and we had been married for
seven years.
All my youth was devoted to him, but what did I get in the end?
I never doubted sincerity, but it changed rapidly.
Just after I received the divorce agreement, I received a call from an unfamiliar number.
Sean yelled on the other end of the phone, “Brenda, where on earth did you go?
“I’ve already told you that Angela is my aunt. Why are you so jealous? You dared run away from home with my mom. You’d better send my mom back as soon as possible, or I will never forgive you.
“If anything happens to my mom, you’ll be doomed.”
» Chapter 3
Hearing Sean’s roar, I decisively hung up the phone.
I had blocked all of Sean’s contact information after I moved
out.
7/7
Sean had called me countless times with different phone numbers, and I had blocked all of them.
I thought I would not see Sean again during this period, but when I got off work, I saw him downstairs of the company.
“What’s wrong with you? You scared Angela. She’s pregnant. You can’t get pregnant, so you want to kill her child, huh?” Sean glared at me.
“Angela heard that you ran away from home, but she insisted on giving you this scarf to express her apology. She likes it so much and has only worn it a few times.” Sean looked at me with disdain and contempt, and then he rudely stuffed the gift box into my hands.
I didn’t want the gift and pushed it back. Sean snorted, “Take it, Brenda.” Suddenly, he pushed me hard to the ground.
