Chapter 6
The Silverback Pack was just as I remembered it, but stepping back into it felt surreal.
A strange excitement bubbled inside me as I wheeled my suitcase through the airport’s bustling terminal. The moment I stepped into the arrivals hall, I spotted them–a trio of familiar faces standing in a row, smiling and waving.
My mom, dad, and older brother.
I barely managed to lift my suitcase before sprinting toward them. Throwing myself into my mother’s arms, I felt the weight of eight long years melt away in the warmth of her embrace.

For love, I had ignored their advice and stubbornly left for The Silverback Pack.
Back then, I had been so confident, so certain that my future lay with Alpha Esmond.
My parents had reluctantly let me go, but I knew my decision had hurt them deeply.
Who would have thought that once I left, I would be gone for eight years, returning only briefly each Christmas, leaving them to suffer through endless longing?
I was such Selfish to family.
As tears began to rise, I quickly pulled away from my mother.
“Mom, I’m starving,” I said, forcing a grin.

She smiled, her gentle hands brushing against my face as though reassuring herself that I was truly here.
“Come on, let’s go home. I’ll make your favorite noodles with gravy.”
“Okay,” I replied, linking arms with her.
Together, we left the airport, my father and brother teasing me about how much lighter I looked.
Meanwhile, far away in the Red Moon Pack, Alpha Esmond’s home stood in stark contrast to the joyful scene unfolding on my end.
The usually composed Alpha sat slumped on the floor of his living room, I blocked

his telepathy when I left. So he had to call me .his phone clutched tightly in one hand as he dialed my number over and over again.
Alpha Esmond had never forgotten my birthday–not once in all our years together. Every year, he set a reminder on his phone, and this year was no exception.
On the morning of the 27th, the notification had woken him in the guest room at Omega Carly’s house. Groggily, he got up, instinctively reaching for his wallet. He’d planned to buy groceries and prepare something special for me, just as he always did.
A custom bracelet sat waiting on his desk, ready to be given as a gift.
But when he walked into the living room and saw Omega Carly curled up on the couch, he

hesitated.
*Why hasn’t Nancy apologized yet?* he thought, a wave of frustration washing over him.
For years, I had been the obedient, understanding partner. But this time… I wasn’t bending. And he couldn’t understand why.
Feeling uneasy all morning at Omega Carly’s house without a single message from me, he finally decided to go home and check on me.
But as he opened the familiar door, the sight. that greeted him made him wonder if he had walked into the wrong house. He backed out to double–check, only to find the same stark, black–and–white decor from seven years
ago.
