Upon realizing that the intruder was one other than Daniel, a mixture of relief and contusion washed over me. What was he doing here after office hours, and how had he managed to gain access to the secure building? I had always been diligent about locking doors and windows, a habit instilled in me by my parents. I always triple–checked the doors to make sure they were locked and the windows were always double–checked too, all for the sake of security.
At first, my familiarity with Daniel provided a sense of stery, but then it dawned on me that he was my ex–boyfriend–a bitter ex, to be precise. Despite being well–acquainted with his Inated po, I had made sure to put him in his place. And I was well aware he did not like that.
“Daniel, what the hell are you doing here, and how did you get in?” I inquired, my arms crossed and my gaze narrowed as I studied him. He appeared sober, which raised my concern. What could dive him to act like tha without the influence of alcohol?
“Relax, babe, it’s just me.” Daniel smirked, attempting to employ the charm that no longer held any way over me,
“You and I need to have a little chit–chat, don’t you think?” he pointed between us, taking a step closer. He attempted to place a finger under my chin, but I promptly pushed his hand away and raised an incredulous eyebrow
“You’ve been lying to me for years, and I think you owe me something for that,” Daniel declared, his sense of entitlement oozing from every word. It was remarkable how love could billed you, but now that I was free from his grasp, I couldn’t believe I had ever been with him. I had even be on the verge of starting a life with him–what a disaster that would have been, in some sted way, I should thank him for saving me from himself.
“You’ve been cheating on me for a year, what the fuck makes you think I want to sit and ‘chit–chat with you?” I scoffed, taking a step back as I shook my head. I noticed his abrupt silence at the mention of the year, and my quality was piqued

Not every role suited him, and he lacked the alitative to try and rady them to perfection.

“How delusional are you that you can’t see I was never happy with you? Alec made me laugh and smile more times than you ever did in the years we’ve been together,” I retorted, shaking my head in disbelief as I distanced myself from him.

He recoded immediately, his eyes wide with dear, his own hands flying to his thenat to check for any injuries.
“Touch me again, and you’ll pay with your life,” I warned. I meant in this time and my threats weren’t meant to be taken lightly.
Daniel, terified by the blade, retreated and led from the scene. I took a deep breath and gathered my belongings, no longer in the mood to work overtime.
