Chapter 14
As we turned to head back inside, Daniel suddenly shouted at Noah, “You’re just a substitute, a way for her to get over me! She is only using you to get move on from me.”
Both Ethan and Noah‘ s expression turned icy. I held my brother‘ s arms to stop him but I didn’t expect Noah to move forward. He walked over, pressed his foot on Daniel’s injured hand and said coldly,“You’re just a coward, hiding behind your past and refusing to let go.”
Daniel’s face reddened. He wanted to get up and throw fists on Noah but his injuries. were serious, not letting him move at all. Noah stepped back, signalling his omegas he said, “Throw him out of here. Don’t spoil the guests‘ mood by letting them see this disgusting person.”
Once Daniel was out of sight, Noah turned back. He said while taking my hands gently

in his, “Let’s skip going back inside. I’ll take you to the art museum,”
I blinked, stunned. After everything that had just happened, he didn’t ask any questions or say anything else—just wanted to take me to the museum?
“Why?” I couldn’t help but ask. He looked back at me. “My mom says that art helps people feel better when they’re upset.”
My brother suddenly jumped in. “I’m feeling bad too. Take me to the museum!”
Noah kicked him aside asking, “What made you upset? You were looking pretty cool by finally getting a chance to throw your fists on someone.”
“My one friend turned out to be a jerk and another one is getting busy with his mate. I lost two friends at the same time. Can’t I be upset about it?” he pouted, turning a serious situation into a laughing scene.
On the way, I tried to explain the situation to Noah but he simply said, “What’s past is

past. I don’t want you to have to tear open old wounds. Trust me–I don’t care about any of that.”
“More than that, I’m interested in what you said about me being ‘kind, gentle and upright‘ I like it. Say it more!” I couldn’t help but laugh at his playful tone.
Daniel and I walked hand in hand through the grand halls of the museum, taking in the breathtaking artwork on display. He was being his usual charming self, explaining the history behind each piece and making me laugh with his witty
comments.
As we stopped in front of a stunning Monet painting, I felt Noah’s hand tense slightly. I followed his gaze to see a woman
approaching us, a smug smile spreading across her face.
“Amanda,” Noah said coolly, his voice devoid of emotion.
Amanda’s eyes locked onto mine, and she

raised an eyebrow. “So, this is the new plaything,” she said, her voice dripping with condescension. “I must say, Noah, you have a type. Young, naive, and easily impressed.”
Noah’s expression remained neutral, but I could sense a hint of tension in his body. I, on the other hand, felt a surge of
annoyance. Who did this woman think she
was?
Amanda took a step closer, her eyes
flashing with malice. “You know, Noah and I have a lot of history together. We were together for a few years, and I thought we were happy. But I guess I was just a placeholder until he found someone like you.”
I raised an eyebrow, unimpressed. “Someone like me?” I repeated, my voice laced with amusement. “You mean
someone who doesn’t have a bad habit of manipulating and using people for her own gain?”

Amanda’s face turned red with anger, but Noah just chuckled, his eyes crinkling at the corners. “I think you’ve met your match, Amanda,” he said, his voice dripping with satisfaction.
Amanda’s smile faltered, and she took a step back, her eyes flashing with anger. “This isn’t over,” she spat, before turning on her heel and storming off.
Noah turned to me, a grin still plastered on his face. “I think that went well,” he said, his eyes sparkling with amusement.
“Pretty well!” I smiled. He then looked into my eyes and asked, “Why didn’t you believe her?”
“It’s because I overheard her conversation with your brother on phone. She is your brother‘ s girlfriend who came here to create drift between us. Besides…” I paused for a while before adding in a playful voice, “She is not your type.
“Ahm…” he coughed before asking

“Someone intelligent like me!” I winked
and we both laughed for a long while.
