Chapter 7
He was more worried than being surprised.
I, who used to receive his call within
seconds, was not receiving his call. Even after arguments, I used to spam him with countless messages requesting him to forget me because I couldn’t stay angry at him for more than a few hours. He was
surprised to see the same person had blocked him from all her social media app. How could a person change so much
unless a terrible thing occurred to them.
Yes, a terrible thing occurred to me. It just was not what he was expecting. While being worried about me, he rushed towards the apartment we built to live together. His eyes widened in worry as he saw the door unlocked. His anxiety reached to peak after realizing everything was gone from the apartment. It was all
blank. A sense of unease wash over him.
Where was I? Why had I left without a word? He frantically searched each room,

but there was no sign of me. No note, no message, no clue. It was as if I had
vanished into thin air.
He tried calling me, but my phone went straight to voicemail. He sent me messages, but they were met with silence. He even tried contacting our mutual friends. But, they didn’t even know about my departure. How could they know where
I was?
As the hours passed by, his anxiety grew. He couldn’t shake the feeling that
something was terribly wrong. He remembered the arguments we had been having, the tension that had been building between us. But he had never thought it
would come to this.
Just as he was starting to lose hope, he received a notification from a social media app. It was a message from an unknown number, but the words sent a chill down his spine. “I’m safe,” it read. “Don’t look for
me.”

Excitedly, he traced the number and immediately visited its location. He thought I was throwing tantrums while staying at one of my friend’s apartments, just to scare him. But, when he arrived at the location, he found an old man waiting for him. He was our grocery supplier.
Daniel was confused. But his confusion was soon cleared by the old man as he told him that I gave up the furniture of my house to him for free. In return, I had asked him to send my message to Daniel whenever he visit the apartment.
After I spent a few days with my family they began asking me if I wanted to meet my mate before deciding for the marriage. But, I refused them, saying, “Since Dad and my brother know him and think he is suitable for me, then he must be. I’m not interested in knowing anything about him. Him being my mate is enough to get married to him.”
I used to believe in seeking love for marriage rather than finding a mate. But,

my belief was shaken by spending seven years on a non deserving person. Now, I let fate decide my future.
Next evening, my Dad asked me to attend a charity gala with him. The banquet hall was surrounded by strangers and fake smiles. I had been dragged there by my father and brother because they were determined to show me off to the pack mates. But as I stood there, sipping champagne and pretending to care, I couldn’t shake the feeling that I was living a lie.
And then, I smelled it. A scent that I once sniffed in the woods when I turned eighteen. A smell that felt so astonishing, attracting me towards it by a force hard to resist. Just like that night, I couldn’t resist it today as well. My legs abruptly started moving in the direction from where this pleasant smell was coming. In no time, I was standing in front of a closed room. I shook my head to get rid of this weird feeling. But, the door of the room suddenly

pushed open and a pair of strong arms pulled me inside and locked me from either side, not letting me move at all. I immediately closed my eyes out of fear. Meanwhile a deep male voice sounded near my earlobes, “Do you really have to be here at this time? How am I supposed to control myself now, huh?
